A Question Concerning Poetic Preference

Okay, I was wondering what people thought here. If you read someone else's poem do you like it best when they explain the symbolism and meaning to it, or when you are left to figure it out and use it for your own life too? Wow that was a long question, so let me know what you think.

I sometimes put a comment on my own poems explaning a little about the piece, it helps sometimes and doesn't ruin the poem if people read the poem first.

I like it when there is no explanation, becuase I like to figure out the meanings first. But if I can't figure it out, then I like it when I can actually ask the author and get an answer.

I like them both, one when they explain the meaning of their poem or to teach you a lesson through their poem.

i think i like it better when you decide what it really means to you as apposed to being restricted to what the writer was thinking
