Am I that bad of a writer?

Hey everyone! So I've been writing poetry since I can remember and now I'm 13. I think I have come a long way since then after I look at all the happy little rhymes I used to put together.

But now, I've stoped getting comments and no one seems to read my poems any more. Am I that bad of a writer? Should I just delete my accout? Or trust that people will read my stuff somday and actualy comment.

Not getting comments does effect a lot of things when your a writer.

-You don't think your a very good writer and your self esteem for putting your poetry on goes down.

-You don't have any suggestions on ways to improve to make the read more enjoyable.

-You don't have any idea if your poetry is interesting to the people that read it and if you should keep it on.

    -Ect.

Any real suggestions this time anyone?? =[
I don't know if I'm gonna keep my account...

Don't dwell on people not commenting or voting. I've been here just 3 months and it frankly doesn't bother me. I post my stuff in the HOPE that people will like it, but don't really care if they don't.

And you're 13: why should you be bothered if people are not voting on something like poetry? People you're age aren't meant to give a shit about anything! ;-)

don't worry not many people rate mine, lots read it just don't bother rating it. It doesn't bother me, im only 16. who cares.
If you really want people to read and rate, write a post in the read/ rate/ comment forum asking people to read and rate poems, and offer to do peoples in return. that way you get to read lots more poetry and think of constructive comments, therefore increasing your knowledge and you get what you want, eg comments and constructive comments!

Oohh, I don't get comments by the bucket-load either, and I admit I'm in a slow writing period now, but my life is getting better, and I'm starting to change some of the subject of my poems, from depression to hope, so it's a big change. Just recently something bad happened, so I'm back into a blank mood, but, there's still that light at the back of the tunnel.

I would never stop writing. I never could.

^ tellin' it how it is. You've got a LOT of time and a headstart on a lot of people. Study the craft, read everything; poetry, books, short-stories, essays, etc. Maybe buy a book on English Grammar and Usage. I strongly recommend the latter because a good understanding of the language and how it can be used is essential to good writing. You might not think so, but any serious writer has em' down. Plus, if you know the rules, you can bend and break them at your own pleasure.

I haven't gotten comments on this site for a while. Try going to other sites for feedback; eliteskills.com, writersbeat.com, poemzone.com, deliric.com, etc.

Well, I had a period where I did not get comments on like 20 poems, or votes.

Try to ask for comments, in the "Request for comments" thread.

    I worked for me.

Or you could try to go to another site for comments, but I suggest you try here first.

But then so is poetry as an art form, and thinking as a pastime of humanity. I'm off to watch MTV while I eat a McDonalds.

True Ed. Its sad but its happening.

I know what you mean Apathetic Soul, the exact same is happening to me...

I think you should focus on seeing what you think you need to improve on instead you might just get comments that offer no help. THe real help for your poetry will come eventually.

always keep writting, just forget what others think of your feelings. they can't put a vote or a score on that.

hey i know what you mean, i dnt noramlly get comments, well, i never until i commented on other ppls, if u coment on other ppls, they will see urs and get commenting, the reason they dont comment is coz there are so many poems on this site, and u cant read everyones, make urself known and when commenting on ther ppls ask if they will do the same for you.. it doesnt mean that you are not a good writer, so dont be put off by it, and stay on this site! lol.. keep in touch! take care.. hold your head high and smile *it confuses ppl* xx kirsty palmer xx

A writer writes. How can there be such a thing as a bad writer? Writing is good and reading is good, too. Arithmetic, well, you will just have to ask somebody else on that, lol.

^^Go to the requesting comments forum for that. And remember to ask for honesty, if you really want it.

I`m kind of new to this but so far it seems to me the more you rate and comment others the more comments you get, not everyone returns the favor but many do, I make it a point to return every one.It takes some time but if you love poetry you won`t mind.

'don't u think u r thinking to much at such a small age....? even i hardly get some readers attracted for my poems but that does not leave me booing and swearing and crying and giving up,,,, '
This is bs. Don't say stuff like this. Morgan's not booing and swearing and crying and giving up, and she's not too young to think, for god's sakes. She's asking for opinions and help.

I agree with alot of posters on here. Give it time. You are still young, So keep going.
Don't comment others just to get them to comment you, but by all means if you find a poem you like leave a comment and drop your name. You never know. Don't let people's lacks of commentary get you down on yourself. I've been writing for a long time as well, and I'm not getting alot of response either...and I know how you feel because it is rather bothersome.
So what I do is ask for my friends' opinions. I only have one friend who writes poetry, but even non-poets can hear poetry and have tastes about what sounds good to them and what doesn't, and that helps sometimes, as well as knowing they like your poetry, which they probably will.
Also, don't convince yourself that if you don't have a P&Q you can't write. We like note books too, dearie-pie. ;)
So keep it up. And I'm gunna go check you out right now. (that sounds a little bit bad...)
