The cat and butter conundrum

Ok. As we know, when you drop buttered bread, it'll always land butter side down.
And when a cat falls, it always lands on it's feet.
So, knowing this, if we were to strap a piece of bread (buttered, obviously) onto the back of a cat (buttered side up) and dropped/threw it out of the window, what would happen?

I've come to this conclusion: The cat will defy all laws of gravity, as it can not possibly land on it's back, just as butter can not land facing upwards. So unless the string comes undone, or the cat somehow manages to eat the bread, it will float around is the atmosphere for many years to come.

    But what do you think?

haha thats very imaginative. Who would have ever though of something like that? Other than you obviously, lol. Well.. i guess we will never know untill someone tries it. And as much as i don't like cats, and cats seem to always hate me, i wouldn't do that to one. lol. So.. we will never know.

    Kara......

    This is.....this is just......

THE MOST AMAZING THEORY I HAVE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE!!!

Lol. It's good. And to be honest, I believe it. Hahaa!

  • Kara !

All I can say is that I'm glad my cats have left home - because if they were here now, one of them would be getting dropped out of the window right about now.

All in the name of science, of course..

i think the cat will land on its feet and then roll over... because the bread hasnt hit the ground yet. this only works if you tie the bread so that it is closest to the cat with the butter farther away from the cat...

    this is an interesting conversation!

  • Jordan

AHA! But what if you tied an entire loaf of bread to the cat's back and then buttered the top?

    oOoOoOoOohhhhhhhhhhh!!!

    Lmao.

  • Kara !

lmao. Well if we're going with Allanah's theory, then it would just fall straight on it's side, I would guess, and defy both rules.

~ ohhh!!!!!... what if on the way down the cat eats the bread??? ha...problem solved!!!

however, if the cat doesn't eat the bread..then I have absolutely no idea and I'm gonna choose to agree with you and believe that it would just float around.....

lol..how clever of you to think of something like that!!

  • Brian King

actually the cat would land on it's feet... it's all in the weight

on buttered bread (no cat additive) butter side lands down because of the extra weight on the buttered sideand the speed at which it spins

now the cat weighs more than the bread+butter so therefore the cats weight eliminates the "spin" factor you are basically making the cat fatter and cats of all sizes land on their feet

I dun believe the sciencey guy!!!!!!!!!

    I belive the original theory!

But if you put the butter directly onto the catz back, then what might happen, would it alter anything, or would you just have a very buttery cat...?

This is a very interesting topic... and I like teh uber ubberness of it! Wo.Ot!

What if you butter the cat's entire body and then throw it at a hobo with no socks?

  • Poetess Lana

then make sure you have your phone # tied to the cat. otherwise the cat will run away from the hobo. yeah.

I sold my buttered cat to an old man just yesterday. I told him that it was sandwich and he gave me an old pair of suspenders and a war medal for it.

  • Puddin Luv

lol...i think tht the cat will land on its feet b cuz of its weight b'in greater than the bread's weight.

  • xxEvilAngelxx

interesting conclusion you came to... I disagree however. I think that because the cat can think for itself, it will override the rule for butter. In conclusion: the cat will definitely land on its feet, With the butter still strapped to its back. =)

  • Jordan

    Mmmm.....I forgot about buttered cats!

Sigh...if only I had some butter.

  • Poetess Lana

i still agree with my theory that the cat will land on its feet and roll over. as for buttered cats, ive been trying to cut back. tis very fattening. and gives me hairballs.

The cat gets annoyed as your trying to tie the buttered bread on her, scratches ya arm up and runs off OUCH
