inspiration

I think I'm quite lucky in some respects that I am a hopeless daydreamer. Which wasn't helpful when I was an air traffic controller - no honestly, I'm actually kidding... but I am a daydreamer. Ideas will just come to me. Most are bad ones. Some can be worked on, to be better, just as a good idea can be worked into something great.

If youre ever starved of ideas (and I often am) here's my advice:

    1) Watch the news. That winds us all up. You might find inspiration there.

    2) Dig out some old photos: reminiscing about times gone by can be hugely inspiring. Still stuck? Dig your folks' old pics out and see if you can do something in the 3rd person from their era. Relatives that lived through wars, disasters or economic depressions are a huge help!

    3) Go for a walk: Make it somewhere you don't normally go. Living in a rural area given to urban spread I find my own community constantly inspiring. But anything can spark the poetic fire, be it a shopping mall, a new housing project, or a run-down ol' factory.

    Hope this helps!

Most of the time it is the way I think that inspires my poetry. I tend to dream up my poems as opposed to actually drawing from the world itself.

I almost always write about society. Whether you realise it or not, usually when reading my poetry, you are reading about my views on society.

What helps me write my poetry is just things that go on in my life. After a long day i just sit and think of all the things that have happened. There is a lot going on right now in my life but writing poetry helps me feel better. The bombing in Lebanon has been hard for my family because even though i live in Missouri, I have family there and I had family on the way to visit there so I almost lost a big part od my life.

I also write about being adopted. If anyone else here is adopted post me a comment and tell me wahat you think about adoption.
In my opinion, i really like. My life definaitly changed for the better.

I'm inspired by my life. For example, the love poems were inspired by my crush, 'I Hope You get Fired' was inspired from the anger at my teacher (She made up write a poem that was totally controled!) etc

That's why I like to read your stuff. You use a particularly visionary method, and there's enough ambiguity in there that the reader get's to interpret things in a way that may not have been your intention at all. Which is a good thing. :-)
