I think it depends on how much sun exposure you get on your *unprotected*, and sometimes even protected, skin. It can also occur from surgeries and tanning. I think pretty much anybody can die from skin cancer at any age, but I'm not exactly sure =)

I went to school with a lad who had skin cancer on his scalp at the age of 15. It had nothing to do with the sun or anything like that. Apparently UV increases the chances of it, but later in life. If you get skin cancer as a teen it is likely genetic. As was the case with John. But even though this was the 80s, he had the cancerous tissue cut away and replaced with some from (I think) the back of his thigh. He also had a course of chemotherapy. And in time he recovered completely. To the best of my knowledge he is alive and well to this day, some 21 years later.

my brother had skin cancer. but it just depends on how deep it goes and if it has attacked any major vein or anything. it happens but to people with it really bad. My brother had it and it took a few trips to the doctor to get it all removed but hes fine : )
