ok we tried many different things here,
    best poem, best poet etd
I am trying something new, WHO IS THE BEST PERSON HERE WHO ALWAYS GIVE QUALITY FEEDBACK TO YOUR WORKS, THAT REALLY HELPED YOU TO BECOME A BETTER WRITER?

and let me start from myself.
I think for me that person is DWELT
the most useful comments i ever get.
it helped me alot to be a better writer.

It's really unfair for me. I NEVER leave a comment without a helpful hint, but most people say about my poems are just that they are good, they loved them, how sweet, etc. But I have NEVER gotten a BIT of help to improve. Ppl tell me to TRY to improve, but they NEVER (Not exagerating) give me a tip on HOW!

No offence but people need a major lesson in giving feedback. Nobody is really offering help anymore.

I'm like anyone else. I like my ego pandered to. But there are some sharp pennies out there whose opinions I value way higher than "wow u r a gud poet i realy liekd dis 1 it wuz wel kwl now rate me plz lol" and suchlike.

I'd rather someone say "Wow I can tell you were 18 when you wrote this, it sucks" when I look back and think, "it sucks".

and Catherine, I've read all your stuff, if you're serious about becoming better, read all you can, study the craft, try smaller formats, and stay away from the traps that suck young poets in, the it needs to be tear jerking or sad to get peoples attention.....Your writing is below par for a poet , but above par for your age, however that means nothing either way, it is how diligent you challenge yourself to become better. It all starts in the classroom, in the books, and lastly in the dictionary, but only with comprehension and williness.....

    =x=

Thanks, I'll try to improve. I realize my rhymes aren't the best, nor are any of my poems really. My friends think I'm awsome. But, then again, they don't write so they don't completely understand, the way I look at it.
I am proud of my poems, but that doesn't mean everyone has to like them, and I realize that. Thank you.

My sis Eirisa I feel has made me the writer I am today...I was thinking about this the other day actually...When my poems weren't the best she'd always read them and be honest with me and always help me critique them..sometimes I'd read her poetry so much that it became like a study to me because I wanted to right like her..so much that I took notes of what I saw..she doesn't even know that haha....but yeah definatley her..and everyone else from the poetry club I'm in..they always are open with you about my writing and help me become better and realize my mistakes and all

I, along with many, have not recieved much in the way of critisim in fact I am recieving more critisim from a website that doesn't even focus on poetry.

The best critiques I have recieved are from Bob Shank (dwelt) and Silver. Thanks to both of you and all others that have critised my work.

  • shela

    dwelt?
In my opinion he is the only person who can not give honest critisim, He never tell a person that their poem are good, so my question is out of this whole site there is not even a poet who is better than him?????
the way i see it, is he is afraid, afraid of another poet become better than him. He is afraid of new comers. that is an honest answer and i hope no one get offended.
so now anyone tell me what is good about Dwelt's comments????????

  • Kaylee

I don't know about you but the few comments I've recieved by him were kind of positive. And when I asked him for an opinion on something and he was honest I took that as it was someone pointing out things I didn't see. I'm actually thankful for that. It let me think things over. As for him being afraid of new comers. I just don't get that feeling from him.

shela i disagree with u, cause the only person who helped me to find better is DWELT and to prove it you can check out the comment he made on my poem BUT THAT TIME, then u will understand what is honest comment about

  • shela

the prove is many comment in the board,
when some one os not good you seem like make fun of them rather than tell them what step they should take. And I am not the only person who have that opinion about you because i have had heard it from other members as well....

If not for Bob (dwelt) my poetry would still be riddled with useless punctuation. Bob has helped me become the writer that I am today (which is a far sight better than I used to be). So I definitely disagree with Shela's statement of him not wanting anyone to be a better writer than him. Such nonsense!

i dont really beleve that i have a person who i would identify as 'the best person to give feedback' but a part of me gets really annoyed when people just write.." love this poem"
but the other part of me is greatful that they read it.. and took the time to comment..kinda!

    same ^

but someone that always comments me about my poems, and leaves little things she likes, or something she noticed, is F L I P F L O P S. She's really cool (not to mention she's written a TON of poems)
