Limitation on age.

Ok. This probably is a little silly but I got to thinking about this. When you go to set up your profile or re-do it, you can only take it up to 99. But I have a couple people in my town and the town next to me who are 100, 102, and 104. What if someone who was older wanted to get on this site because, lets say, they love poetry and they can't but there actual age? This is silly but just a thought that came across my mind. Are you saying that people who are above 99 either: a. cant be on this site or b. can't but their actual age.

I know this was completely stupid but just a thought that came across my mind. =D

lol... Well I personally do not know anybody that old, let alone one that knows how to turn on a computer.... Besides, I'm sure they would be more than happy to knock a couple of years of their real age =D

Anyone who is that old shouldn't be surfing the internet, they should be put to work counting baked beans or something.

I mean they work their wholes lives, bring up families and then expect special dispensation because they maxed out over a 100?

Add another 50 years to that and maybe Janis will change something.

    Otherwise get counting.

My Nana is 91. She made parachutes for the war effort. She likes telling people about punching a boss in the face in the 50s because he pinched her arse. Her poetry extends to "ne'er cast a clout 'til May is out" and no further.

But she loves reading it. I imagine she'll shuffle off this mortal coil and we'll find she's got a vault full of incredible prose. :-)

I know i know. You were right when you said most of them do not even know how to turn on a computer. But I was just looking at the age limitation and it made me laugh because over the past couple months I have been meeting some very elderly peoples!!! 102, 103, 105...Wow. Lol. What if they CAN get on a computer and are proud of their age and don't want to put 99!? What if they don't like to lie?? =]

Sorry. Just being my strange self.

My nan is 87, and she has the internet, and she knows how to work it really well, but she doesnt like poetry, but i agree that at that age, you shouldnt be surfing the net.

Why not? =] I also believe that 10 year olds shouldn't be surfing the internet but they are anyways. They shouldn't be but they are. Maybe they are some hip elderly people! =] You never know. Maybe they hang out with there great grandchildren and want to act like them? :)

    Lol. Sorryz.

he poetry of a person that old would probably to good for this site any way. It's deepth and meaning would not be understood. The beauty, love, loss, sorrow, hope anger, fear and insight of a person of a hundred or more years would be greater then anyone here can imagine. If you found poetry by a person that age one would be better advised to study their words then stare at their profile. Art is born from the soul and like the soul knows no time. It is the distillation of the spirit eternal and ageless. It is forever an infant, forever new, forever young whether written at 18 or 80. Actually it's probably better the age entry does not go past 99. Judging from this thread maybe it shouldn't go past 15. The wisdom of such a life put down in verse would fall like a spring rain on duck feathered minds.

And just to let you know I know many persons 70+ who use not only computers but the internet. Not to mention those great minds who pioneered the technolgy in the 40's during the war. Persons who not only used, not only built, but designed. All this when just running a computer took a degree in either electrical engineering and/or mathmatics. In day when using a computer ment more than plug n' play and clicking ok.
Profiles that go past 99? What would it matter?

i personally think it's a great idea i mean 74 years from now when i'm a 100 i want the right to let you darn youngins' know how old i am, which is why my poetry will hope rock by then.

Why shouldn't 10 year olds be surfing the internet? I joined this site when I was about 10 and it has helped me so much since then!

Once you are unift to work, and you have ceases to be any use to society, like when you get old or your leg falls off or something, you should be killed and used as compost.

    Viva functionalism!!

Honestly don't you think someone age 100 or whatever would join the site if they wanted to, seeing as the important thing is ment to be the poetry surely they could just put age 99 instead of their real age and be done with it???

  • donna

If any of us reach 100 then we can come back and post a poem about how it only goes up to 99.. an incentive to reach a century I think lol
