    There are very few Movies that can pull off the pure essence of a great novel. Here are a few I think did a great job. But of course the books are always better :)

    Fried Green Tomatos
    Girl, Interrupted
    To Kill A Mockingbird
    Prozac Nation
    Lord of the Rings (they were alright)

    hated Queen of the Damned, which had a good bit of The Vampire Lestat added in too

    I loved to read to kill a mockingbird but i hated to watch the movie, i dont know why. The Lion the witch and the wardrobe movie is my all time favorite book/movie along with the harry potter series.

    I think that Jaws is both a great book and great movie, a rare event.

    Gone with the wind- Yes it is a classic, but both the book and movie are amazing.

    Easy Peasy.
    My favourite by a green mile is ..
    The Green Mile by Stephen King
    Its the only movie I've watched that was as good as the book.

    The DaVinci Code - great book very good movie
    Lord of the Rings - so much better than the books
    Hated the Harry Potter movies. They're shocking.

    I never knew Tuck Everlasting was from a book..but I love that movie.
    There are many good ones. Actually a lot of the best movies comes from novels.
