Yep, plenty of free proxy servers about. But the chances are you can't use certain javascripts or flash plugins unless you pay for the service.

But the fact is: if your IP address has been banned you really want to be stickin' it to the person banned rather than P&Q.

If you don't know how to use proxy servers, then don't bother. You do one thing wrong and you eff up some programs.

But anywhoo, since when did mods start banning your IP from the chat? Especially for the most stupidest reasons...ahem.

I dunno how the system works here, but I tend to assume most chat plugins work on the same principle:

Make sure that the ban is applied to a SPECIFIC IP address. Because dial-up users can just disconnect and log back in with a slightly different IP address some chat apps have the option to ban a range. E.g:

    user1964.dsvr.orange.co.uk [199.101.234.166]

You could directly block a user using either of those parameters. But you could block anyone using "orange" by using something like this:

    *.dsvr.orange.co.uk

Or anyone within a certain IP range like this:

    [199.101.*.*]

    or even:

    [199.*.*.*]

The latter would block users that aren't necessarily on the same ISP., and is frankly the actions of a moron who knows nothing about internet usage. :-)
