does he enjoy doing the cross country and stuff???

if he does tell him ... that just coz his dad isn't treating him the way he should ... it doesn't mean that he should quit ... and quiting (in my opinion) wud just make it worse ... coz then his dad wouldn't hav anythin gud 2 say abt him and just critise him more instead ... so yeah ... i might b wrong though

If things are really that bad, he needs to be willing to sit down with his dad and tell him how he feels. Keeping his feelings inside doesn't solve anything. His dad needs to hear him out or else nothing will get better. All you can do is convince him to talk with his dad. Other then that, i don't know what else you could do. I think you have done a lot for him already. He should be happy to have a g/f willing to try to cheer him up.

Just BE THERE for him. If you can't get involved, jsut let him know you're there -- to talk to, to hold on, to whatever... He just needs someone to be there for him, and in the long run you'll see (and he'll remember) that you were there for him.

The guy I'm dating now had dated another girl for a few years before we got together, and during that time his grandfather (whom he was really close to). I went to the visitation to see his sister, who was one of my close friends at the time, and he saw me there. I told him I was there for him if he needed someone, and two years later my forty mintues of condolences paid off for me. He's one of the most popular, athletic, sweetest, wittiest, best guys in school.

So just trust me, be there for him. It won't seem like much now, but it'll be good for the two of you in the end.
