Give them 50 dollars and they'll tell you you're poem is great.

yeah everyone wins...although they actually publish the poems, the books never get around and they only give the poems to the people who order them...sorry to burst your bubble....but i've heard about that as well..

Yeah, same here. It is best to google poetry scams then enter in real contests, this way there will be no disappointments.

i did the whole poetry.com thing before, it sucks. -sigh-. i'd use lulu.com, its actually real. and not a fraud, my class published a book on there. and u can order it online. its not that expensive either.

Actually if you submitt your poem to a contest @ poetry.com they may send you something saying that they want to publish your poem in a book and you may tell them no or yes and they give you the chance to order the book and it eventually will come i to you it took me about 1to 2 months to get it i think
i know because i have had one poem published and the book is sitting in my bedroom

yes but i heard that the only ppl that get the book are the ppl that are in there as well, its not like something you can pick up at a book store or nething...still it's pretty cool, and if it wasn't a scam i got 3 poems lol

Yeah, I entered a contest and they stole my poem and my money. My Father threatend to sue them, and some lady with a weird accent called my house, telling me and my Parents they could not give us our money. I was not happy.

lol.... i got this letter saying , "yay your poem has been entered in a contest and along with thousands of other people your poem will be seen in a book!!!"

    everyone was like, "OMG"

and then.. at the bottom it had this little order form saying

"buy the authors copy of this book for half off- making it $30.00!!"

newayz people kept giving me advice even though i didnt ask them to,. it was so annoying!! my mom made it sound like i needed help on what to do! :\

newayz thanks to p&q i've been prepared for scams! so i didnt sign the authors release form :) someday ill regret it, but for now im glad im not in a book where my poem will never be looked at!

lol - why are most contests scams??? i mean, i got this little entry form in the mail from something that said poetry in it and i see the same contest in my magazine! but in the contest it says "affiliated with poetry.com"
    ....

anyways, long story short, people were trying to rip me off by buying my own poem! ... lol

    DON'T FALL FOR IT, PPLZ!!
