For Serious Writers, Become a Mentor or Mentee!

A great idea by Kevin Murray, we could set up a program for those who wish to be a mentor and those who wish to be mentored. If you are SERIOUS about writing, post here if you wish to be mentored or become a mentor and for those wishing to be mentors, if you look through the posts and find a writer you are interested in mentoring, you can send a message to them and the person wishing to be mentored can accept the proposal.

A mentor would fill the following roles
- discuss any poem(s) the writer has chosen, for critique
- write a poem together
- share inspiration with each other and experiment with styles together
- help to discuss the features of poetry such as rhythms, styles, and any tips of the trade.

The mentee must co-operate with the mentor and take an active part in the roles above with the mentor.

Well with peopel saying they'd love ot be amenteen I'd be happy to try and be a mentor. lol BUt knowing me my mentee would probably be a heck of a better writer.

I could care less about becoming a mentor. But those of you who would like to combine skills, contact me. I would love to collaborate with a serious, not pretentious, writer.

well I can't do a lot, its up to the writers to look around at those who they think have the skills and send messages asking to be their mentor or mentee. I would create a club for this to set it up formally but I already have one.

Otherwise, I would try and match each other up which is fine except we don't have enough mentors.

I would like to be both...as I am always looking to improve and feel that I might have something (not much) to offer someone else. If you are serious and want to exchange ideas, be real with each other about our writing and won't be hurt by suggestions...email me. Sometimes the best way to get started is a collab.

Great Idea!!! I'd love to be a Mentee or mentor! I can help others but think i also need help.

I'd like to be a mentee but I also like to give advice if anyone would like any at any time. Noy exactly to be a 'mentor', not yet anyways, but just to give advice. For now to be a mentee would be really cool~!

I wouldn't mind being either, mentor or mentee. (and I'm comin' back home tomorrow, so I'll be back to my ol' faithful style of checkin' in here 24/7 rather than 1/1 lol.) Do we just pick someone we're interested in working with or is there some kind of bizzaar pick-name-from-hat idea that I haven't thought of yet?

I've already had many members contact me for advice and suggestions, and have written and advised many who appreciated my suggestions, and I've even posted a topic in the writing poetry forumn titled NOTES ON WRITING POETRY.I've had years of experience and have had over 1200 poems published in the literary small presses as well as 4 chapbooks and numerous awards.I've always had the desire to help/teach/advise others with my experience to spare them the problems I went through in my early years and would be honored to assist/help/answer any questions regarding poetry as far as my experience can help.In other words, I would love to be a mentor to anyone who cares to contact me.I don't know it all, but my success and experience may help.
