I think it's because people can relate to each others pain so much easier than they can relate to each others happiness. |

I think people are so attracted to pain because it's something that we all feel in one way or another and the one thing that most of us can relate to and really express. |

Negative emotions are usually stronger and deeper...I think. Between pain and happiness, which one affects you most? Anyway, I think that you can relate more to tears, blood, hurt, heartbreak, being forgotten... but when you read "I'm so happy, in love, I have a soulmate, etc," mostly one can just think "good for you." |

because we all experience and sometimes (especially as a teenager) it's easier to understand and control...and some people never grow out of that. |

Well I've always found that people tend to edge towards the dramatic. For one thing it is easyer to experiance sadness/depression than joy, which you have to work at. |

I agree wit lovely bones, we all experience pain at least once. And when we see that someone has written about it, it makes us feel as though there is someone else out there who's in the same situation. Or, at least, a similar situation. Even though we all know that people are sad at one time or another, reading a poem about someone being sad makes it feel real. Feel normal. And when it comes to writing poems about pain, I think that when you're in a mood about something you can't talk to anyone about, it's easier to write a poem. At least in our poetry we know that wether or not anyone cares or wants to listen, we've told something. Even if it's scraps of paper on the corner of your homework. Some people dye their hair blue, some people shut themselves from society, and some read and write poetry about our pain. |

I read poems about pain because I find they are better written. I write about the emotional kind of pain, stuff that makes me so upset I break down and cry (Which is actually alot. I cried twice in one day on Mon) So....yeah |

I think people relate to pain, sadness, depression because life is not all perfect happiness. And it reassures us that others hurt also and that life is not all happiness and roses for everyone.Sure I like writing and reading happy poems, but realistically life is hardship, struggle and pain and it is reassuring to see that others feel the same as we do, whether positive or negative-it lets us know we are not alone in our despair, sadness, and pain.It is a connection to universal feelings.Though happy/love poems can be just as touching as those of pain.Though pain and sadness seem universal and we can all relate to these emotions. |

I think it`s cuhs` everyone can relate to pain and sadness and all that stuff . I mean, we all experience happiness in our life, but some of us just haven`t experienced AS MUCH . But pain .. everyone can relate to that . Happy and Happy Ending Love Poems and stuff ... They can be just as good , but I don`t knoee ... I guess we just wanna read something that we can relate too -- While also reading other poems . |
