That's gotta be annoying... like people copying other people's poems. But there really isn't any way for us to make them stop... is there? I mean... if they won't listen, we can't MAKE them.

Ha... guess it's not our fault that they can't write and they have to steal other people's masterpieces. lol.

Jena can you re-post the poem so that we can read it for ourselves?

I agree with the copyright. Technically, as soon as you write something, it is copyrighted, but you need to pay money if you want the government to do anything about it.

Unless they're making money off of it or something, I refuse to waste my energy on these people. I know what I wrote, and that's good enough for me.

But yes, don't let seomone get away with stealing if you know about it, and don't give copiers high ratings.

woah, you guys jena deleted all her poems and all her quotes...

mystic thoughts, what poem did she copy? just out of curiosity?

This whole thing is like burning witches at a stake, the way they did in olden times. These people can't help their ideas (or lack of it) the way witches can't help being who they are. Besides, some people were burnt for false accusations, might this be a similiar case? Peace, love and empathy.

But... (I'm not saying she is, I don't really know anything, just in for a good discussion) if they were really her own original work, why would she delete them? The date AND the writing says is all, there is no reason to delete them if she was innocent.

Sorry Jena, I really do not know if this is true or not, I am just trying to reason with this all.

All I know is that the poem that they are talking about at the top of this thread, was emailed to me over a year ago, and then I read the same thing on this site. I've only been coming on here for a few months...I didn't know what I was supposed to do about it. Don't know if it was Jenna's poem I read or not, but I know I've seen that poem here... What can Janis do about it?

  • Sarah

Its true, I just looked...now Janis can't do anything about that?? I'd be interested to know what the original authors think of his use of their poetry...and the first poem in his list(there's only 2)
he dedicates it to his gf who "passsed away"...the amount of sympathy that readers gave him is overwhelming!! And for it to not even be his?? Maybe the gf really did pass away, but the in memory of thought should've be in the forum, and list the link to that poem, saying, "I love this poem, makes me think of my gf who passed away, read it and think of her..." or something like that...sad, sad, sad.

Do these people who steal even have a conscience? My work's been stolen before, and I know how it feels (I wanted them to be crucified and drowned, to be exact) but anywayz, geez. I'm not psycho or anything, but some people put their hearts and souls into what they write, and they should be appreciated. For some people, poetry is a part of who they are. I reckon it's ok to take someone's poem and QUOTE it, if you actually mention that someone else wrote it, but it's pathetic to pass it off as your own... Eurgh...

Another thing, isn't it just strange that right after these so called accusations, both Jena and Valentino deleted all their poems and quotes? Why do that if you're innocent?

"who cares if people are stealing poems?"

This is an origianal poetry website. Plagiarism is a CRIME.

Who cares if people are stealing money? I guess they'll have the empty feeling of not working for it.

Obviously, if someone's stealing a poem (or other work for that matter) they want some kind of credit for it, without working on it. I don't think they truly care about their feelings and such at that time.

Anyway, in theory, work is copywritten from the moment it leaves the pen.

Lipton: Don't you see? Born2die... doesn't have to worry about plagiarism. Who would want to steal his stuff?

born2die4pride: You did not leave an honest comment.

Many people care when their work is stolen. Some from the fact that others would take the very essence of their hearts and use it as their own. Others that they would use it to win awards and earn money off of something they did not write.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but not all people have an open conscience. I'm very sure there are many plagiarizers out there who don't give a damn what they feel when they steal work from another.

Most only care about recognition or money. So infact we must care, or they get away with a crime. When they do, what is to stop them from doing it again?

It is your choice wether to act upon that knowledge or not...

Born: Once again, theoretically, once a written work leaves the pen, it is copywritten.

Even IF there was nothing that could be done about plagiarism, it doesn't make it right.

And, actually, the person that plagiarizes gets:
    1) Their poetry removed from the site
    2) Banned form the site
    3) Is looked down on as poetry scum

Plagiarism is the top offense in writing. Don't think it will go by so unnoticed.

    Nothing....

That is why this is a constant issue...

There is also no way to prove that the plagiarizer has multiple attemtps of theft...

It is like a game to them... when they are caught, it is simply a life lost... then the slate is whiped clean and they start again

    Born:

Wow, you really can't think past your nose.

    YOU SAID:
"so what if they get kicked off, they will just come back under a different name or carry their plagerized poems over to another site"

    I SAID:
"Born: Then the same thing will just keep happening to them."

    YOU SAID:
"ya and what will stop them from being hard headed and getting right back on"

I already answered your question. Do you think asking the same question twice will get you a different answer?

since there are SO many threads about plagiarizing, and this is an OLD thread that has been dredged up, I am going to lock it now.
