I may not be an older generation, but I can give you some reasonable advice. It takes a really lone time to 'detach' yourself from an ex love. You two were engaged, which means there had to be some kind of commitment to love. That's why it's hard, and that's why it hurts. You may think she's the one, it always seems like it when you're in a relationship. From the looks of it, I don't think she is. Sorry to say it, but it's true. Love is not suppose to hurt. If she loved you, she would go back to you. Unless she is going through the exact same thing as you. Talk to her and find out her true feelings, it's the only way you can find out. Put your heart at rest, don't let it hold on to something that will damage it.
