Which sort of compliment would, do you rather???

Would you rather someone praise, extol, the emotion in your piece, poem (its feelings, sentiment) or for them to praise you on your word choice - its eloquence - and how well your poem flows, its rhythm, its structured, and how exquisitely it is the written? Which would you rather? What’s your preference for a compliment?

Me, personally, although I want the sentiment, the feeling within to ring through and capture the reader, I more greatly value being complimented on how effectively and eloquently I wrote (on my choice of words and the beauty and effectiveness there of) and exquisiteness of my overall writing, then to get a shout out as to the fact that they felt what I was saying, and could relate to or got swept in the feeling, emotion, there of.

Of course, thruth be told, I really like when people get swept up in my poems, in the beauty and fevor there of and go "wow" or something -- expounding on how they were swept away by my words, for I write to captivate peoples hearts, souls, and imaginations, but I couldn't do that without writing effectively and eloquently, without choosing the right words and setting a good flow!!!

I agree with you on this one. Sure i really love when readers can relate to my poetry, heck, that's why i write most of the poems i write the way that i do. But, i would prefer them writing to me and telling me they liked or disliked the way i wrote the poem, or how well the words flow, or the words i use to explain, or the metaphors i use. I like honest criticism. If they do not like the poem, i expect them to tell me so, not say it was great but there's something missing. Well that leaves me in the blue as to what is missing and how i can then fix it.

The emotion... after all, isn't that what the words are there for?

I don't like comments on my poems,

I write them pretty much for me, not come off selfish in one of my only posts ever on here, but it helps me deal with everyone in my life.

my latest poems are pretty much for my friends, I write them for them, when someones praises in a comment I mean yes I like that, but it's not the reason I post them on here.

I don't know what to say, i'm better at conveying my emotions through poems, so I write them it happens.

i personaly would rather have people comment about my poems setiment to them, to know that my poem deeply touched someone, or a reader can personaly relate to the poem, and therefore are so open to the emotion that i put behind my poems, however i do like to hear that they also preshate my choice of words too.

You shouldn't have to choose. A good commenter should primarily focus upon the emotion but give attention to the words, flow, form as well.
