Word choice

I recently submitted a poem that used the word "whore" in it. The word referenced peoples greed and lifestyle choices. The poem is not and was not vulgar. I can understand the poem being rejected if it is used in a vulgar sense, but in this case it was not. Have the PC police taken over? Is being PC more important than artistic intention? That word in the context in which it was used, was not vulgar. Congress is often times referred to as a "parliment of whores" (which is actually a title to a PJ O'Rourke book....and it is displayed in book stores without a brown paper wrapper....

Help me understand why the word "whore" is inappropriate when used in that context....

    Thank you.

man, so many people take the filter and spell checker so personally. It is not the mods or admins checking poems or any other person for that matter...It is a built in filter... the program doesn't know what context the word was used in.

My suggestion: post it as "slang" to get past the filter, then change it to the proper category. It should work.. I know it does for names, and other words that the filter thinks are misspelled.

Being somewhat devious...I tried it and it didn't work when I switched back....bummer.

Oh...heheh, I rarely spell-check my poems. But they're fine.. I mean, I can spell on my own. I heard that name in a James Blunt song, and I pointed it out to my mum. She said it's not a swear-word, it's a job description. *shrugs.* You could write it as wh*re, perhaps. Or just don't spell-check, maybe...
