God and Janis.

    Hey guys,

I don't know if you've noticed or not, but i don't think God is around anymore, if he ever was, and in a weird syncronicity which may point to the origins of not only this site, but perhaps our entire species, neither is Janis.

He was meant to fix this place up months ago, and I'm sure we're due a 2nd coming about now right?

    Weird. discuss. Weird.

    Dead - just resting I'd say :o)

Interesting though Kevin, trust you to make light of a tragedy :oD

Gods never die, their power just wanes when followers stop believing in them.

I've always wondered who Janis was. I know he's the owner of the site and everything but does he ever comment on poems or forum discussions?

Nuovo and bret, have you read "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman? It deals with that very issue. A man, named only shadow travels around america meeting and fighting etc, old gods who are struggling in a world that doesn't believe in them anymore...whilst the new Gods of Internet and technology thrive...it's very cool.

    Check it out chaps.

Sounds good mate. Thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to look it up.

Since we're looking at theories from books and such...

Maybe "Big Brother" has swept Janis away and is planning on freezing the site soon due to it's overabundance of individuality.

    I don't think so.

If anything this is a proponent of newspeak and those robot made songs.

I have spent many years studying various aspects of religion.I am still just as confused as I was 20 years ago.I have taken a little bit from every aspect of religion and admire most the spirituality of the native americans and wiccan philosophies. But no matter,We are all gods of our own destinies, truths, beliefs..Our poetry is a form of expresing our beliefs. our faiths, our religions, our philosophies. It is the truth and meaning of this life as we view it that matters.Whether you believe in a Supreme being or not doesn't matter;God is not dead, we are all gods of our own making, if there is a higher power, than it guides us through this life if you choose to believe that, or if you choose to believe we are all gods and control our own destiny and vision, that is also possible..We must all find our way throgh this life, no matter religion, belief or faith. As long as you you have a sense of sprituality in yourself, in this world, that is all that matters.

    Peace, Poetry & Power,

    Gary Jurechka

If the moderators will allow me to quote Janis
    “You can’t own things,
    You can’t do without,
    They end up owning you,
    So, please, watch out!”

I have always liked the idea of comparing a Creator creation relationship to a poet poem relationship
It is interesting to note that if the data is accurate less than twenty members have Janis on their favorites list

Is there no gratitude to the creator?
Or do things just randomly happen?

Perhaps anyone that would like to own this site should “watch out”
The same could apply for those that would envy God’s status

    Nice analogy Micheal.

Janis, like God, according to the bible, made this site, created a bunch of rules, and then vanished and let everyone sort themselves out.

I ain't a fan of either of them. You don't make something and then detract responsibility from it without explaining why and how.

Only difference is, we know Janis exists and made this site...thought 2000 years from now who will believe us?

Well Kevin the success of this site just proves what a wonderful job his disciples are doing
From a purely objective point of view we must rely on the evidence presented to us as to know who Janis is
If he was created in the image and likeness of the drawing in his profile some might find it difficult to take him seriously

On the other hand it is not logical to use the weakest evidence that to prove something or someone exist

The creation of this site was obviously dependant on a unified effort. Or so it seems

As far as rules and laws who owns them?

Regarding American Gods, Kevin, I just saw it on my wife's bookshelf! Woo and Yay for me. It's amazing what you find when you're not looking for anything.
