I started writing poetry when I was about 14 years old. I wrote faithfully until I got married [18 years old]. Then I quit writing poetry and started writing short stories. Did that until I decided to write a novel [Just to see if I could] Got writer's block half way through my novel and quit writing all together for about 10 years. Then a friend asked me to help her write her wedding vows. She wanted it to sound poetic. We must've tried for 13 hours straight before I finally gave up. That night, I had a dream and these words came to me:
Let not your mind, control your heart
    Keep them united, not apart.
I immediately called up my friend and told her to write all the things about her husband-to-be that she loved. When she gave me the list, I wrote a prose. After that, I wrote a few poems, a few short stories, a little bit of this and alitte bit of that. Then I had a writer's block that lasted for about 3 years. I just started writing again when I joined this poetry site at the end of last year. Don't give up. Just keep writing. If it is something you enjoy, It'll come back to you.

I reckon find something that imspires you. That's what i do. find something you relate to and just let it flow, as the other entry said, let it come from your heart. writing can't be forced, it just has to come. give it some space, give it some time and it will come back

I was like that too just a couple weeks ago. I stopped trying so hard, and now everything`s just flowin` back. Just think `bout what yu wanna write `bout most and let the words just pour out from the heart.

I know I get that all the time. I wait it out, and if it still doesn't come, I find some inspiration. Sometimes just writing a journal entry can help. Find something that truely moves you then I guarantee something will happen.

I've started writing when I was 12, Ive made my first poem, then another one, but At one point when Im in college I havent wrote, not one poem, Ive started writing last year and mostly inspiration comes naturally, like un expected words..some scenes on the tv, a little notebook would be helpful, write down all the words youve think that is great..all of it,
    Then aftewards settle down
Knit the poem from the words youve collected..

I dont know if this will work for you.

    God Bless!

Maybe going over your old poems and reading them might help or find a poet that you like and read theirs maybe someone you have commented on in the past ..Or as the person above suggests take up knitting jk

    Peace

Ha just don't worry about it. If you need help getting started just carry a note book with you at write down how you fill when something happens to you or around you. And don't worry I have had the same problem only it lasted about 5 months.
