    Can't - By Megan
    © 2006

She can't help put to wonder.
If he'd still be here with her.
    She can't help to cry.
    Knowing he's left her alone.

    She holds his picture.
To afraid to left him go.
She's always wondered how it'd feel.
Now she wishes she'd never known.

And he can't help but to worry.
As he looks down upon her.
To notice she's not letting go.
She's to upset, to grasp the fact.

    She wonders why.
She seems to place all the blame.
    Upon him for it.
For this horrible dream, that's came true.

    She prays it wasn't.
Screams it out to the world.
    How could this happen.
    Especially to her.

    She's left to wonder.
To care on day to day.
    With-Out The Man.
    She once called her life.

For Doug- A friend of the family who died in the Vietam War. May his friends and family find comfort.

    Her Heart Still Waits
    By: Twisted Heart

Among the ashes, they sift with haste
A soldier's gun lies there beside
The cave where they had found a place
To finally rest on this heated night.
But though they searched, it was in vain
No living soul around there found
    Just faceless soldiers without names
    Scattered debris upon the ground.

    Back Home

She's heading home, a hard day at work
She's picked the mail up from the box
She is tired, her weak body hurts
But times are harder since he's been lost.

Now, a letter has come to relate
It says no survivors have been found
She sets in darkness as she waits
For her heart's screams to give sound.

Her heart, her soul, has crumbled here
Upon the page that bears the news
Her husband dead, It's so clear
She couldn't believe that It was true.

But now, she has the confirmation
And she reaches for the phone
    She dials numbers so familiar
To tell me Doug has been called home.

I've waited here, so strong at times
Yet weak to hear those words forsaken
That my friend had died that day
My strength has now been shaken.

They gave him the Purple Heart that day
It was sent with a letter of deep regret
This bitter war that the Government played
Was one that we won't easily forget.

Dear victims who were called to fight
For reasons that were not their own
But they forged the battle through the night
With little hope of coming home.

    ~A Picture~

    So peaceful and silence
    He lies on the ground
    No screaming or yelling
    He is no longer moving.

The earth is no longer hot
    He is no longer sweating
    He is not alone
He has a picture of his love
    Next too his heart.

    How lovely she is
    They were to be married
    A child on the way
But he had to go away.

    A gun shot wound
    No longer in pain
    He only hopes
    She will understand
    Why he couldn’t stay.

    Back in the states
    A young girl waits
    She sits in her room
    Praying for everything
    To be okay.

A child grows inside of her
    She has yellow ribbon
    In her hair.
    She misses the man
    That she wants to marry
She hopes he will be back one day.

    There she waits
    Not knowing he is gone
    There she waits
    A picture of her love
    Next too her heart.
