    An infatuated Poem Challenge!!!

    This is a call to write a poem - that is preferably rhymed - centered on/around feelings of infatuation, a fascination with someone. What this challenge is looking for are poems that express being Enamored of, Infatuated by, or Smitten with someone, a poem that expressive your affinity, adoration, attraction to and for this person, that obsession you feel for them.

    Examples:

    She Was a Phantom of Delight

    She was a phantom of delight
    When first she gleamed upon my sight;
    A lovely Apparition, sent
    To be a moment's ornament;
    Her eyes as stars of Twilight fair;
    Like Twilight's, too, her dusky hair;
    But all things else about her drawn
    From May-time and the cheerful Dawn;
    A dancing Shape, an Image gay,
    To haunt, to startle, and way-lay.

    I saw her upon a nearer view,
    A Spirit, yet a Woman too!
    Her household motions light and free,
    And steps of virgin liberty;
    A countenance in which did meet
    Sweet records, promises as sweet;
    A Creature not too bright or good
    For human nature's daily food;
    For transient sorrows, simple wiles,
    Praise, blame, love, kisses, tears and smiles.

    And now I see with eye serene
    The very pulse of the machine;
    A Being breathing thoughtful breath,
    A Traveler between life and death;
    The reason firm, the temperate will,
    Endurance, foresight, strength, and skill;
    A perfect Woman, nobly planned,
    To warm, to comfort, and command;
    And yet a Spirit still, and bright,
    With something of angelic light.

    ~ William Wordsworth

    To Jane

    The keen stars were twinkling,
    And the fair moon was rising among them,
    Dear Jane.
    The guitar was tinkling,
    But the notes were not sweet till you sung them
    Again.

    As the moon's soft splendour
    O'er the faint cold starlight of Heaven
    Is thrown,
    So your voice most tender
    To the strings without soul had then given
    Its own.

    The stars will awaken,
    Though the moon sleep a full hour later
    To-night;
    No leaf will be shaken
    Whilst the dews of your melody scatter
    Delight.

    Though the sound overpowers,
    Sing again, with your dear voice revealing
    A tone
    Of some world far from ours,
    Where music and moonlight and feeling
    Are one.

    - Percy Bysshe Shelley

    Note to all poets this is not a competitive challenge, but a really good poem will get you reads, votes, and comments.

    Terrible attempt coming up

    To one I love

    Strange how lief my eyes still view thee,
    in twilight deep, thy every grace
    with ease ensures that hopes pursuit thee
    in dream and day, to touch thy face.

    When first in waking life, I saw thee,
    walking `neath the starry sky,
    my quill, it failed with words to draw thee,
    shattered as thou passed me by.

    A sense of joy so deep and true
    have seldom wandered far inside me,
    as when I saw thee, as I do,
    when everyday I wake up by thee.

    Rug Rat Revolt

    She has the face of an angel.
    I like the way her bangs dangle.
    She is cuter than my cocker spaniel.
    With her I would like to tangle.
    But, alas, it will never thus be.
    Because I am just only three.
    She goes only for the maturity.
    I will escape this crib; I'll be free.

    I will admit the ocean holds no grace
    More than an ounce against his face
    While mocking birds may taunt shrill
    Blushing my heart knows no other thrill
    Than to tease them for their vacant beak
    Has yet to feel his raspberry kisses sneak
    With feathers gripping through stormy air
    Not even experiencing his touch soft and fair

    The moon is jealous for his light shines bright
    While shadows cloak her in their starry night
    Crickets chirp musical sorrow down a quiet lake
    Shushing water mourns with every breath we take
    Evergreen leaves trail after footprints toward a path
    In which the forest echoes contain our lover’s laugh
    And Morning dawns on the pile in which we now lay
    Our beautiful anniversary marks this remarkable day
