I really hate it when people give a poem low rating just because they don't agree with what is being said! I am not specifically talking about my poems, since I get good ratings, but I have seen it happen, and it *really* ticks me off! Is it really so hard to say something like "terrible opinion, good writing"? |

I do, all the way, and its not just because of the subject matter either, its all a jealousy thing, It seems to me that when certain popular ppl get on the top 5 list, all of a sudden they get low voted, did that poet all of a sudden lose his/her ability to write? I dont think so. petty jealousy folks, i have always kept quiet about this because i knew i was gonna get low voted, but you know what? I know I write good poems so I dont care anymore..those who know me and others know we will always write good things Think I am being a little cocky..YES I AM |

wow! I totally agree with that!! Ratings can be cool for certain poems (funny poems for example) but for some poems like sad poems...sometimes i think maybe there shouldnt be rates because how can you rate something that comes from someones heart and soul. I mean some things might be really hard for someone to talk about, and there poem might be kind of confusing because they are so confused..but its coming deep from within them...and how even more terrible to see it rated a 1. I once read this poem by this girl, It was hard to understand, but it was talking about her feelings and life...and I thought just writing from the soul is so beautfiul that that within itself is worht a 5!! Well thats what i think! |

When you write a poem, you express it a certain way, for yourself it has a special meaning, forevery one who reads it, may think somthing diffrent of it, you may say "I killed her, Didnt stop to think of the pain, One day It might bring again" |

Now, I'm a little upset! My newest poem's rating (America) keeps dropping lower with each vote, and I think I know why. I can't speak for everybody, but I'm not so blind not to know what most people think. I did offer an explination in the comments section, but nontheless, my poem is still my opinion! |

Do you know what I also hate? When people vote a poem down without adding a comment. Unless it's a really crappy poem, I think people should be obligated to explain why it deserves a low rating so that the author could at least know how to submit a better poem! Honestly, is it that hard? |

I soooooo agree with you!! I hate this soooo much!!! I think it's mostly because all the "lesser-known" or whoever is voting us low, I think it's so we don't end up on the Recent Rated Poems of whatever category, and they do. So frustrating. Anyways..I'm with ya xxx |

Maybe I'm too liberal w/ my 5's...but I almost always give either a 5 or a 4...maybe I'm too liberal w/ what I like? I haven't read ANY poem on this site that warrants a 1!! Not even a 2 or 3...I don't understand perhaps? All I know is that I have come across some brilliant poets here and enjoy everything I read! |

I totally agree because one time I put like one cuss word in my poem and someone wrote me a comment saying that they gave me a one because of it and the would of given me a 5 if only I used a different word to replace it! It was so stupid...It made me so mad because my rating went really low! |

I totally agree with you on this one. It is like they are prejudice against you when they comment and say 'I give you a 1/1' because they just don't agree with you. I mean, look at the poem! Is it creative? Does it have capital letters? Is it more than just two lines? Do they use the 'spellcheck' option at the bottom of the screen? I mean come on people! |
