What do people compliment you most on with and in your poems

What do people compliment you most on with and in your poems or by contras criticize on or about your writing.

For me, I get complimented most on having a way with words ( my word choice) and criticized most for my sometimes unnecessary over usage of commas.

Concerning your poems, what are you complimented most on or by contras, criticize for???

That's difficult.. Just went to have a look at my comments and they vary..
I get complimented mainly on the content, flow and rhythm.. although I get the occassional '1 of the stanzas seemed forced' but normally pretty good comments in all :]

I get complimented on the content, flow and rhythm of my poems, as well, but what seems to get people most of all is my adeptness in and of language usage. I get like "Beautifully written and great choice of words" for compliments, or there may be too many and unwanted commas in most of the lines for criticism.

I can see why You are complimented on on the choice of words You use.. they really are brilliant.. Can also see how much You like comma's too lol, The poem of yours I just read was amazing :]

I get a lot that say "Wow, that was great. You're really talented" Which tells me nothing about the poem or about myself... but that's about all I get there days. I guess my writings are not worth commenting properly on... just like the rest of me.

Usually for me it's the content and inspiration for my poems. The interesting (and to be honest weird) topics i choose, shock people. Some like this others don't but that would be the main thing for me.

it's mostly on how what i write is from the heart which most of my poems are purely from it and i also get alot of compliments on my talent in comparison to my experiance as a poet (which is basicly non existant) but i wish they would just judge me like they would for anyone else, i guess thats what happens when you go in the chats and get to know ppl a little and they get to know then they become too kind of a judge making their opinions useless (once again i totally went beyond the question and babbled w/e)

Hmm.. Hehe, I usually get complimented on my use of imagery in the poem, the good flow of it, or the content.. Usually the critism I get is on.. Lol, can't think of anything at the moment.. =P

    Basically, I am not sure.
You either love or hate my poems... And that is what I have gotten from the comments I receive.
Someone says they LOVE the peice with all their heart; that it is their favorite. Whereas someone else says it was poorly written ((Which of course, I never agree))... So I am not really sure.
I guess, recently, I have really orginal ideas that people seem to love. And a way with words/flow. =]

Hmmm...toughy....I don't even know, to tell you the truth. My comments vary. I think my praise is usually from, well, people who like my way/style of writing, because I will say that I often have different formats. Alot of people don't like this, and that's fine, but yeah..that's where my comments come from.
I get critisized on alot of things, so I couldn't really answer your second question.

"Maybe I would know if someone would LEAVE A STINKIN' COMMENT!

Please someone comment on my two newest poems 'Unwanted' which I am mega proud of, and 'Just a Symbole' which I'm also proud of""

Catherine, go find the right forum. This is the second time i've seen you advertising a poem/asking for comments in the "POETRY DISCUSSION" forum.

I don't always recieve positive comments, but the negative are few and it doesn't matter anyway(some just can't relate to a certain poem, or it may not be that good of a poem-I have some that are truly bad,lol)-I write for myself.Mainly I get complimented on the emotion of my poems-that others understand and can relate and are touched by my words. Also the flow and word usage and meaning and construction/form..Mainly the emotion though. That is the greatest compliment a poet can receive-that he/she has touched the heart and mind of others.

    Peace, Poetry, & Power,

    As of critique, this is what I got recently;

"I really like it but I was distracted by all the commas. poems without punctuation can make a writer look lazy or stupid, but too much punctuation can ruion a poem. you've got something to say and the meaning is blurred by to many commas. if you rethought your punctuation and put more work into what you want to say I could probably hear it. but with all the punctuation there are some parts of this poem i just cant understand."

    also

"Again i say commas. i read the first line of this poem and didn;t even finish because of your incorrect use of punctuation. use thoughts from your heart and your mind to say what you want, not what you think your english teacher would appreciate. you've got lovely worthwhile things to say being strangled by english grammar."

Now, for those of you confounded by use of liberal commas I say, although I do prize correct grammar, although mine isn't always as such, grammar is not the major purpose of the comma usage, nay, I use the commas to help set the rhythm. I try and write a poem to how it would sound, if I was speaking it. I try to pace it to how it sounds in my head, and sometimes I also play around with word position - writing a sentence flipping the words around - and here's where grammar come into play the commas allow me to reposition words differently then how they would normally appear in a sentence following all grammar rules, but still not have them be grammatically wrong, but like I said, it's mostly a rhythm thing, so, I would suggest that all who the commas confound read the poem aloud and see how it sounds with the interval pauses, and see how everything comes together working to set or establish a rhythm. Yes, I want the most proper grammar possible, but the commas serve as more of a rhythm pacer than anything else!!!

But I say, no matter what you're writing, writing well should be important, unless the use of slang and/or bad grammar lends itself better to what you are writing!!!

Hmm ... A lot of people compliment the flow of my poem . Some compliment me on my more sad poems, telling me that the poem moved them so much that they cried . I got that a lot before my old account got deleted, and i`m starting to get those comments again (:
Other people comment me on just the poem overall and stuff or specific verses .
&&I`ve gotten a few comments on my age which really bugs the h e l l out of me -.-

I receive compliments on the feeling the reader gets from my poems, emotionally speaking. A lot of my poems deal with love or sadness, and I feel I can make the reader feel it too.

Compliment me most on my ambiguity... which is a great compliment, my writing is pretty relaxed, therefore I don't like my meaning being so clear.

Sometimes the language I use, but in some cases, I disagree.

  • Hatori

They just say "It's good..." I never know if it means that the poem is actually good or if it sucks and I should burn it. They seem to like the flow of my poems though.

They tell me that my varity and choice of words is good, but my poems are too short.

  • N J Thornton

I have contradicting comments. Some say the fact I use unusual words and write short poems is good, yet others say "big" words are hard to understand, and they like longer poems, which is fair enough.
