what a stanza?

i know its kinda dumb to ask but im not dure what a stanza is

stanza one:

a stanza is a block of poetry
that stands tall, with all of me
it sits on glass and falls through
into actionless peace.

stanza two:

second stanza is this one
burning like a lightbulb under
ground that a mans head
realized was never quite found

its just a block of writing, usually four lines, not always, followed by an empty line, then four more lines of poem. the four lines is a stanza. =)
