yes Friends, there are tiny green men in the
program-but fear not they are just envious that
GR8 shows up as "great" but mabe they(green men) read it as GGGRRRRR! a sign of aggression.

The problem is that when you first submit a poem, not many people will see it unless they check the recent submissions or they are in your favorites.

If you happen to get enough high votes to make the top 5, your poem will get a lot more visibility and therefore a lot more criticism, both good and bad. It's very rare that a poem will stay in the top 5 for long.

Brandon is absolutely correct, but the one thing is, you will also start to develop a following, like me for instance..and then I will tell all my friends about you, friends. Then you will get the votes you deserve. Its all o.k., there are just too many jealous ppl on here. so keep your chins up, and keep typing your poems, you are a good group.

Just keep your chin up hun and remember there are people there who really do apperiate poetry out there. ^_^

I have been here only a few months and have also noticed this with peoples work. I'd read a poem on the top rated, then return again a few hours later and there is a completely new lot of top rated poems. I've only had one on top rated up to now and although this poem has still got a high rating, compared to my others it is the lowest. This maybe because many other people have looked at this one and decided it isn't their type. Or maybe there are these little green men i've heard about.
Anyway i just wanted i know where you are all coming from.

Happens to me too but hey? What can ya do! Its not that big a deal really - I dont care too much for recognition of my poetry from others its really just my best form of communication and realease - but still those times my poems are up there does make me smile - dont worry about it - especially considering theres nothing you, I nor anyone else can really do about it :o(
