How come I can only write poems when I am sad?

I showed some poems to some friends and they said I have a gift, but I think it is a curse, cause I only write when I am sad.

Well well well, that makes two of us. I always wondered the same things. Any poem I've ever written when I'm happy turns out to be crap.

I think maybe we (anybody) can express it when we're happy easier- as in we can smile and laugh and such. But when were sad we have trouble showing it and writing helps get it out.

I like that answer from Kristina. Showing sadness is so much harder. Not everyone can cry and let it all out. Our outage is writing.

I think you only write poems when you're sad because, like everyone has said, it's an outage. It may be that when you're happy theres no reason to write because you're ok. Don't worry when it is you write. Don't worry about what you write, either. Just write when you want to write. Whether that's when you're happy or sad, mad or just bored. If you have talent, does it matter?

mine is i can write potery when i'm happy and sad..but now on i don't feel none!!..so i'm like writting crappy poems..!!..

poetry is an expresson of feelings and sometimes sadness is the strongest feeling we can have so it makes since really. not to mention sadness is one of the hardest to express so you may let your writing do it for you. thats how i am.

I think it is because when you are sad is when you are at your most emotional and when you feel the strongest about the topic on hand. That plus some rhymes and clever use of words equals poetry. I am the same way.

OMG i have the same problem. i have written so many when i'm sad. i only got a ffew good ones when i'm happy. i also think it's hard to express what we feel when we're sad. i find it easier to write my feelings in poems when i'm sad cause it has more feeling in it. well thats what i think and same with the people that read my poems.

some one said to me that when your sad that your angels are closer too you than ever and that angels are your source of creativity

well i write poems to let out my feelings thas the only way I know how to let my feelings out...so most of my poems are sad because I've been through alot n I found it that writin helped me alot...I mean doesn't it help u let out your feelings?

It's your release. I'm guessing you don't open up to other people, and that is how you "open up"

yeah I find it hard to trust people especially with guys...but it's all from past experiences that got me like that but yeah it's my release lol

think it's because you have so many emotions building up inside you, you have to let it out. not all people write poetry. some people burn things, hit people, enclose tierselves in their own misery...thank god we have the power to write huh? i agree with Kristina, too.

yeah everyones right, its just such a way to let everything go when you're angry or upset...
when im happy i just dont feel like writing poems anymore because i cant get the emotion into them.
I havent written any in ages and kinda want to, but then if its because ive been happy i suppose this is a good thing..
