Winter is approaching. YAY! So, I want to start a new contest. Write a new poem, or enter an older one of yours, about winter. It can do with anything that involves winter. Anything at all! It can be any style or any topic, nature and special event is probably the easiest though lol. I will take the first twelve or close it after October 21.

There will be 3 winners, and I will comment on one poem of your choice to anyone that enters, and the winners will each get 5 r/r/c and first place a spot on my favorite list if not already there lol. =]]

I have added two honorable mentions as well and they will each get 3 r/r/c on poems of their choice.

Winter just finished for me though.. It's spring now. ;P

First Snow
by Twisted Heart

Upon the crest of autumn leaves
As cold rains wet the earth
Comes the heart of winter's song
To bring forth the first snow's birth.

The swirling winds of time have come
Increasing autumn's haste
Into the past with other seasons
Within our minds encased.

Now comes the chill of winter's kiss
As the white cape falls with grace
Upon the hues of autumns reign
A coat of whitewash, now is placed.

It covers dirty grounds with hope
And cleanses with its touch
It sparks a bit of innocence
With it's artistic brush.

Yes Bryan, you can reserve lol. Well, you guys are two of the best writers! Write one damnit! Lol. Just kidding lol.

There is one poem I am not sure if it qualifies...Would you mind going to it and seeing if it fits? If it doesn't, I will try to write one...and I think I could. I just may, even if it fits. ^.^. Depends on time.. It is called 'The Bells Chime' (It has reference and takes place in winter..)

Winter (Acrostic)

Wide pastures sprinkled in milky crystals
Indefinite beauty beyond minds of mortals
Naked enjoyment spun in threads of snow
Thriving sunlight casting a golden glow
Eternal silence beckons to winter's call
Romantic dreams under a pearl white fall

it is centered, it resembles the Japanese
lantern. It has a strict syllable pattern of 1, 2, 3, 4, 1.

The trees have been striped
No leaves to keep them warm
The bitter winds brings chill
To the bones.

Not snow but ice
Gleams on the streets
All living things
Curl up to their knees.
Try to keep warm
These hours will be deadly
These winter nights
Are not very friendly.

Your tears will freeze
Your breath will be short
No winter’s breeze
Will come with ease.

Bear with it
Keep your head down low
For winter nights kiss
Is something you will never miss.

Unfrozen Blood-spattered Tears

While the snows starts to fall on the ground
You leave me, without saying a word of goodbye
Then tears flow down like a torrent on my face
Running from my eye and liquefy my pelt

Now I'm walking but don't know where to go
You leave me on the first day of snow
When I'm prepared to tell you that I love you so
You ruined my wings and let me crawl

So I pledge to my self not to think of you
That this is the very last time I bestow these tears
Where I put all the harsh sorrow you gave
While singing a cry goodbye my dear

On that wintry hour of darkness my heart beat so loud
It breaks my cadaver want to freak out and die
It is so profound, the reasons why I cant stand-alone
Subsequently, I grasp a dagger to end this miserable life

My days will never be that contented again
Because my heart tranquil shouting your name
And when the sharp edge taps on my veins
On that wintry night, unfrozen bloody tears collapse

Hey Jenna,
If you have the ability to keep it from melting, does that mean you can make it snow? If you can, send a little down here to Oklahoma. We haven't had a good snow in a long time. At least not one that lasted more than a day or two. Would greatly appriciate it. My kids haven't built a snowman in 5 years.

Haha Ily both as well!!!! YAY!!! Lol. And Blue, it should have a little more to do with winter. Maybe try writing a Haiku, it is shorter and easy to write. =] . And Twisted, I'll totally try =] I'm excited to build a snowman!!!! =]]]

Looking towards the horizon
Glancing to and fro
There you will see the wind
Twisting up the snow

Listening to carolling
You’ll become intertwined

Your skin becomes aglow

People making snowmen
Others pushing their friend

Lmao, yeah that too. But, for a drink, that really helps and is friggin delicious; I got this recipe from the lovely Terra for Honey Lemon Tea. And you just boil water, pour it into a coffee cup, add 2 teaspoons of honey, and two of lemon juice. It's fricken amazing. I still drink it even when I'm not sick. But she doesn't know that I cheat like that so shhh lol.
