Do you agree with me: It is much easier to write a poem about something that has happened or is happening to you.

I personally think this because then the flow of your poem comes from the heart without having to think that hard!! =]]

Yeah I can agree with that .
But for me, sometimes I don`t need to experience it .I just put myself in others' shoes && think about how it`d feel if it was mee.
    haha but yeahh .

Very true. Abortions have been a really touchy subject that I have become interested in lately. And when I try to write them, I just get stumped and can not write. I agree completely with you.

I agree... but some times all i need to be is talking to a person and something will come to me with out a single word being spoken.. so some times its easier when i havent expienced it.

My poems come to mind. And when you read my poems more specificly "Returning to the Fire" you would think I had experience, but no, just came to mind.

I totally agree with the fact that it's easier to write when it's a personal thing, at least for me it is...

I just started writing poetry, and from my novice view point I believe that it is a lot easier for me to write from a personal experience. I seem to be able to put more feeling into the poem when something has or is happening to me.

I definitely agree with you. For me it's easier to write a poem about the emotions I feel or the expreriences I've gone through. However, there are poems I've written where I've tried to put myself in some else's situation and write from their perspective..most often than not though they are about my own feelings.

Sometimes. Honestly all of my poems are fictional but people still think they happened to me. But i suppose for some people, it helps.

I have to agree I used to write poems that came from the heart and they were allright but then I started trying to write about random subjects and they dont flow.
