Decisions...

Ok, I have the chance to enter a contest from school that could get me published, but I don't know which poem to send in! I've narrowed it down to two, they are:

    This One's For You
    and Dear Father

So if you could please look at them and tell me which you think I should send in. You don't have to rate or comment them, I just want opinions. Thanks!

Pleeeease could someone help me decide? I like both poems. One is about my mom who has been there for me through everything and the other is about my dad who died when I was 9. I'd really like to submit them both, but I can only submit one!

Bryce, I was leaning toward the poem about your Dad before I even compared the two poems. IMHO a poem about someone who has passed away generally carries greater significance than a poem about the living. After reading both poems, I would definitely choose Dear Father. I honestly think it is a better piece of work and conveys such depth of heartfelt sentiment.

That's not meant to reflect badly on the other poem, though. And BTW I think it is wonderful that you have had a very special relationship and bond with your family. That is something that is sorely missing from the lives of so many young people here.

Can you submit your poem with artwork included? Just a suggestion but I think it would be nice to print out a picture of your dad, or especially one with your dad and you together, to accompany your poem. Best of luck, Bryce. ----Lydia
