I hardly come across Criticism in this site. Whenever I write something pointing to improvements, the authors just scream at me. |

I would love for someone to rip my poems apart. I feel that is the only way I can improve. However, like you both said, most can't handle the truth. |

And I would also like to share that I started another thread for Critism "Who wants Criticism?" in the "Request for Read/Comments" once more and had a startling response. Maybe others who are interested can start their threads there. Despite all that anger and immaturity I found quite a number of people who appreciated honest comments. |

When I was getting popular and widely published in the literary zines in the early-mid 90's-all I received was positive comments(mostly generic). It got to the point where I specifically requested to get feedback from readers on what they didn't like about my poems, what didn't work for them. Also it helped that I served as editor for my own publication and had to criticize others work.So I have been on both sides.Good comments are great for the ego, but truly constructive criticism is even better-as long as the poet can take it.I found some comments useful and some pure bunk.Just a matter of seperating the two.It comes down to your belief in the poem.No words are written in stone, but also don't change it just to please someone else.It is ultimatetley up to you as the writer to determine what criticism is useful and what is not. |
