what is poetry?

What is Poetry to you?
i dont want a stupid dictionary explanation i want some deep feeling about this

Poetry for me is... letting out the other side of me that no one knows about. Being able to express myself without violence or self-hate, and knowing at the end of the day that I will still be the same me. Kinda a wierd answer, but I think it is the most true to me.
