well.. all of my poems are depressing/strange/weird. but that's not to say i am those things. poems (and song lyrics) shouldnt be taken so seriously. i mean, c'mon people!! they're JUST WORDS!!! .... just APPRECIATE them and move on.. |

how many young, 14 year old girls are there in the world? How many are on this site? Many creative people also have a tendency to have their darker moods; many are more sensitive than those who do not write poetry/creative works.* |

Is it normal? Probably not ... Is it common? Yes. I'm 15 and I write suicidal/sad poems, and I know many of my friends write them as well. So do many teenaged girls on this site ... |

so, im 14, i have depression, i write depessing poems. its definately normal for 14 y/o girls to be so negative. think of all we have to deal with and how emotional we are. plus artistic people are very sensative and aware of their feelings and i know that sounds silly but its true, and we also use our emotions to our advantage |

I agree with yah, poetry is not just words, poetry is the exact feeling at a certain time, a deep dark secret you hold concealed, a bad day at work/school, Pain that you need to get out...well thats why i write. Poetry is an expression of every emotion known to man kind...its the darker days, the sunny ones, the hurt, tears, everything....i pour everything out on paper...so if my life i just a paper....so be it...then my words are confined to that paper.... |

I totally agree with Scooby...with the bad day at work/school and that is true 'Poetry' is an expression of every emotion known to man kind!!! Everyone expresses with just writing down the feels that they had in the past and just thought to write about!!! |

to answer your question from my point of view which its your choice to agree or not... i write poems about depression because it helps me to feel better. its better than cutting. and some people probably just write because it comes to them. some of my poems are way exagerated but they were how i felt at the time and i had the feeling i needed to express that. i also have noticed that in a lot of the comments people say they know how i feel which in a way helps. i know im not alone. though it seems like everyone is always upset thats not how it is. it is and expression and whether you write about yourself or something totally not you most people i know write because they need to relax and express a feeling or because they like to know that someone out there cares. just some thoughts. |

Well put bob, I wont argue with you there. but i'v only been around for just over a decade. but your right, i get very very little if any quality time with my mom or dad. mom tries but i honestly don't think my dad gives a crap for me. he doesn't like any of my true writing. he just likes my 'happy-go-lucky' poetry, and i only have 2 of those kinds. and dim light. i hit puberty way before most of my peers, 3rd grade if i remember correctly. because i remember haveing horrible acne and bad cramps. i also matured faster mentaly, I'm sort of a kill-joy when it comes to childish behavior, my old friend San is about sick of me becuase i'v become so uptight, Uhg... i'm just like my mom.. :S but i'm getting kind of off subject here. |

nothings wrong, they just like to put their suicidal feelings onto paper, then when that doesnt work anymore, they act upon it...look at the families, all the moms and dads in america, can you really, truly blame the kids...its a depressing thought all in its own, and then sometimes others poetry can help others...just realizing someone can feel similar to you, can be heartbreaking and take on a life of its own...its a monster... |
