Is it just me, or does anyone else find many poems with a basic ABAB rhyming scheme a little too forced at times. I try to avoid poems that rhyme - infact, after than one I wrote a long time before, I've never wrote another one since. Maybe it's just me..

hmm.... well, for me I think poems are a collection of words that expresses feelings, emotions, thoughts... to me, a poem has to flow, rhyme or no rhyme... rhyming helps the poem to flow when being read, but I have also read some really really really good none-rhyming poems, Im trying to write one myself but have not successed yet... :)

I understand your point, but I've been subjected to a lot of rhyming poems where they make very little sense, just because the poet has been making it that way. I find that a non-rhyming scheme can be wrote without thought. Something directly from the heart that barely touches the brain.

I haven't given all hope in rhyme up altogether though. I just need to destroy all those poems that have dampened my spirits fron my memory.
