Saddam's Verdict

I heard Saddam Hussain's verdict that he is to be hanged.

What I want to know is, does he truly deserve it and if he does shouldn't Bush and Blair get it as well in your opinion.

Should he be protected under the Human Rights Act?

If he gets this sentence carried out, he's going to be forever held in history as a martyr.
He should rot in jail for the rest of his days.
    Peace =)

If you believe that his death will make him a martyr you're fooling yourself. He's ALREADY a martyr.

On the whole I am pro death penalty, but I agree that Saddam should rot in solitary confinement for all his remaining days. He should remain alive as an example to other unsavoury leaders that no matter the atrocity you commit, you will get yours in due time.

And as for Bush and Bliar... well that's something else entirely. They've butchered innocents in the name of freedom, whether you see it as that is another argument altogether. Because sometimes innocence has to be sacrificed in the name of "the greater good".

Take Coventry, and the cracking of the Luftwaffe Enigma code. or, perhaps more appropriately, the bombing of Dresden and the shift from targetting RAF bases to targeting British civilian populations.

    There there boys.

Sorry just needed to say that.

Anyways back to the topic, I think he deserves to be hanged. He killed many people, and to those who think he is a martyr. Well if you have that very same mentality, well then you must think Hitler is also a martyr as well.

Just because someone is admired by a small sub-culture within a society, doesn't make the person a martyr...It just makes the world a little more, excuse my language "****** up"

Two month appeal process... just in time for a good old fashioned Christmas swinger.

It is quite evident that Hussein did nothing at all to act in the best interests of humanity or human rights. He was a despotic dictator, responsible so many deaths it's only read as a statistic and the sooner he is not breathing anymore the better.

They could have got a little inventive though... see how far he'd get on an unarmed scud... I'd pay to see that.

Actually, i'm not fooling myself, if u read the post, i said he would forver be held in history as one.
I'm not a fool thanks. It was an opinion and everyone is entitled to one.

Way to take the reply out of context. Hopefully I'm the only person that actually laughed out loud reading your reply.

It kind of seems like they're letting him off easily by killing him... Shouldn't he suffer for what trouble he has caused? My opinion is he should rot in solitary confinement(sp?).

I'm not for the death penalty. That's just an easy way to get rid of criminals, and in some people's eyes, it's justice. Killing Saddam Hussein is not justice, in my opinion. Yes, he may suffer... for a short while. Then it will end, and he will be away from this world and let off with his crimes. He should suffer in prison until his dying day.

Saddam deserve anything worth than death as well, I am a kurd and i know what he has done to us. please no one should defend this evil when you guys dont know what he has done to his own ppl..

killing a 10 years old kid by his own gun infront of his mom in a jail, isnt that the biggest crime of genocide?
