you could have been president

The president forgot one thing the last six years and it drove away the republicans conservative base. In every decision he should have asked himself: What would Reagon do?

If the GOP takes this as a wake up call, goes back to small government and states rights, sticks to the contract with America, then they can elect a conservative president in two years. If not.....they deserve to lose again.

It's kind of ironic how the republicans or so called conservative christians try and take the high road...

Yes, to me I think of them as nothing more than what the british thought of the vikings. They pillage, they maim, they send their own children to fight their good fight and the do it all for their twisted concept of patriotism and their lord.....

And the Democrats don't try and take the high road?

The Dems tell you what is good for you and then pass legistlation or get some liberal judge to rule, so that your private life is governed by law.

    That is bull%$#@.

If someone wants to eat transfat, smoke, or otherwise do something that will shorten their lives, let them. It is called natural selection. The strong and wise survive. The weak do not.

The GOP has taken to becoming the party of big government, the way the Dems are.

The GOP has become the party of bad ideas. The Dems are the party of no ideas.

If we went with a constitutional government, as we were founded on, or with the libertarian idea of government (which is what the GOP used to be about), we would have a much better government.

Let's face it: Democrats and Republicans are the flip side of the same coin. Both are tying to tell the American people what is good for them, when what they are proposing is what is good for the rich, the few, the elite, and themselves.

It is time for the people of America to stand up and scream bullshit. Call Shenanigans. Do away with PAC's, set term limits, and do not allow for political contributions from businesses or larger than $1000.00 from any one household, during any election period. Give the common person a chance to run for office. What does it say when a millionaire runs for office and spends millions of his or her own money to get a job that pays chump change compared to what they spent out of their own pocket? It tells me that they have discovered the ability to steal more with a briefcase than they ever could with a gun. The return is worth the investment.

Voting for either party, without change in the system is a vote for the status quo.

American politics... It's like reading a book, and then saying that reading the book in a mirror tells a different story. If you see what I mean.

    ^^..

My neighbor Arnold told me this while we were having a argument on Bush..

''If you don't like the way he runs the US, run yourself, when you can. It's hard job, I suppose.. and if you step in his shoes you'll see it too.''

Well. I don't know how much that helped.. but it's actually kinda repetitive typing about this topic. Nothing gets accomplished.. everyone says the same thing. ''I HATE BUSH'' ... ''HE'S A HORRIBLE PRESIDENT''. Do you actually think your complaining is going to solve anything? Not for another two years.. or however long he still has.

Which is rather the point of the recent democratic process, yeah?

History vindicates presidents. And regardless of what we think of the Grinning Monkey With The Box On His Back now, the fact is that I'm confident that when you look at the last two presidents of the USA in context you will see this as a synopsis:

George W Bush: Made his nation the most hated in the world. Oversaw America's worst man-made disaster and terrorist act. Condemned terrorism while supporting at least one terrorist state.

Bill Clinton: Played the sax. Stuck a cigar in an intern.

    No competitition really, eh?

and thanks to all the voters who finally took a stand and said enough is enough....

    ^ yeah, like my papa

the only thing is, you don't need to have brains to run for president, as George W. Bush has proved, but you do need to be rich.

all that advertising, and without Georgies daddy, he wouldn't have the money to run for president.

Imagine if politicians were allowed a fixed budget to spend on their campaigns. And imagine that there was an organization that monitored the correllation between manifesto and first term of office, that determined what claims can be legitimately made about the service an incoming candidate can make about their intentions for your nation.

    Wow...

Imagine... political honesty. An oxymoron, I know. :-)

... and then you have little John Howard in Bush's footsteps, yelling

    "PLEASE MR BUSH, PROTECT ME"

Bloody oath (good old Australian expression lol).
