Okay, so you have two choices of poem forms in this contest. You can either do a "Parquette" or a "Malisus". The subject can be anything from love, darkness, sadness, friendship, etc. [Basically anything!]

Upon the final day of war, he stood shaken
With the death toll reaching over a thousand
In sad remorse, he hung his head and cried
His mind could not grasp the sounds forsaken.

Upon the final day of war, he stood shaken
The cannons silenced by a peaceful hand
His bayonet was hanging by his side
As he staked the flag upon the foreign land.

Upon the final day of war, he stood shaken
As he wept for the soldiers who had died
Like brothers, they became upon this sand
Strangers who now found comfort to confide.

Upon the final day of war, he stood shaken
As distant sunrise filtered in his eyes
In relief, he sank upon the burning sand
This war had turned a boy into a man.

When She's Alone {Parquette}

Tears roll down her cheeks when she's alone,
Sitting beneath the nights blackened dull sky,
Watching few synthetic shooting stars flash,
Leaning against baby brothers gravestone.

Tears roll down her cheeks when she's alone,
Begging for the chance to erase goodbye,
And the running mascara from her eyelash,
Which tarnished her skin from the tears she cries.

Tears roll down her cheeks when she's alone,
All her languished emotions begin to clash,
When lightening strikes from the sky up high,
Her fears are revealed with a sudden crash.

Tears roll down her cheeks when she's alone,
As she whispers to herself, "Why, why, why?",
Overwhelmed thoughts ponder with each gash,
Bleeding internally into the earths ash!

this poem really sucks but its the first one ive ever done(of parquette) and the first time ive heard of this type...so here goes....hope you dont hate it tooo much =\

The night is filled with twists and turns,
As Gods crimson tears flow through my gaping wrists,
Living my life behind lies and deceit,
I begin to cry as the wounds start to burn,

The night is filled with twists and turns,
I try to divert the pain by clenching my fists,
I cringe knowing Im about to be beat,
Preoccupied by thoughts, Why do I exist,

The night is filled with twists and turns,
My mind is sending me into my own retreat,
Trying to act like the pain, I dont consist,
But Im getting closer to my defeat,

The night is filled with twists and turns,
I will let go if this feeling persists,
I can finally end this life of deceit,
My days are now entering the last stage; complete

Okay, its quite crap but this is my first attempt of a poem like this.. it was hard =( It was fun to do though. It was a huge challenge!
