    SURREAL SLEEP
    (She Haunts Me So)
    by Gary Jurechka

Absence makes the heart go wander,
    as if falling, falling
    from a cliff, drifting
as fluttering voices and restless doves
disturb my slumber, pull me under
    into blackberry dreams
    where nought remains but
    the whir of clouds
    as angels lick
    the sweat from my soul.

    January 13, 1994

This was actually an exercise of using an altered saying as the intro(absence makes the heart grow wander, Love is a many splintered thing, etc) and must use some of the following words: flutter. blackberry, angels, sunlight, falling, sweat, destruction, soaring, lost, soul, whir, lick, darkness, clouds- though this is negotiable).Rhyme or free verse is acceptable.

Ok if it is a challenge...Let it be met..

    Hanging Chimes ring
    Beautiful Melody it brings
Wind is the musician; it playfully sings.

Feeling light as though with wings
Dancing on the green cut grass
Basking in the warm inviting sun
    Truly darkness envies you so

    Sprinklers on; sighing at last
    Creating a mini rainbow
Feeling like an eternity in paradise's grasp.

    Original Sin

    Original as the sin
    That is born within
    Foolish human pride
    Sometimes hard to hide
    Permeates my brain
    Baptized by its pain
    Seeks the soul’s redemption
    Suffering without exemption
Can't seem to escape the lies,
    Nor the evil serpent's disguise

    King of the Ants

My name, my name doesn't matter. It's my throne that you should know, remember, fear. Unearthed from their homes, my followers out number the stars. I rule them with power and awe. Know me and know my regality. Know that an in-numerous force looks up to me like a man to a mountain. They call me king, ruler, commander and chief, and I am. I am their emperor, their czar. I am king of the ants.

Might as well quit guys, the Cosmic one is in on this.

For the Boatman By Kevin Alexander Murray

    I went low.

Mostly alone and content with things.
    Yet Butterfly ways show,
    touching, always harms the wings.

I sympathize with such a wanting,
in knowing you love to travel,
but trails of cause to me are daunting,
    for you,
    nigh impossible to unravel.

That unknown Islands need not grow frowns,
even when observed from the shoreline,
content then be in surrounding towns,
avoid the journey's tolls that are mine.

Ha, whenever I need to know about sex changes, Bob strangely comes up tops...

Bobby my lad, you won because I wasn't in the running...truth be told I've been carrying you poetically all these years, and I'm sick of it...stop begging me for inspiration and stanza advice, be a man and write solo for a change eh!
