Stefhy's First Ever Attempted Contest...

Alright. So, I've noticed that in my own poems, I find lines that I'm proud of and lines that I'd love to fix up...Well, what happens if I took all my favourite lines, and in some way connected them to make one brilliant poem. (Of course I'd have to find the poems that follow the same subject matter.) Anyway, this is my challenge to you:

Pick your favourite 5 (or any number around 5) lines from your 5 favourite poems that you have written thus far. Tie them together, and make a masterpiece. Anyway, being that I haven't done this before, I want to make this a relatively short contest. It ends after 10 poems have been submitted.

There will be two honourable mentions; thus, you have 50% odds of winning something!

Note: My comments are Always, detailed and probably much longer than what you're used to. I make it a point to leave my opinion, and thoughts or ideas that may come to mind.

Figuring you out is like a giant puzzle
With many pieces missing
One minute I think I know who you are
But then you keep me guessing

You keep me up night on endless night
Thinking of what is right
What plan of action should I take?
I'm still unsure as I wake

So I put my hand up to wave at you
But gravity pulls it down too fast
I can't believe I did that

Because then I see you walk with her
And tears roll down my face
With that beautiful girl as your very best friend
You must think that I'm a disgrace

I love you because of who you are
And who you still may be
It doesn't matter who you decide to choose
But I'd be happier if you chose me

...give or take a few words, this was 5 stanzas out of 5 of my poems... surprisingly, they all went together pretty nicely (..at least thats what i thought:$)

(Five stanza's from five of my favourite poems all about my favourite person, lmao. It kinda goes together. I really enjoyed doing this contest. Peace x)

Well, so far guys, I'm quite happy with the turn out. After posting this idea, I was beginning to doubt myself and if it would work; but you all showed it's possible, and works quite well. :) Keep 'em coming!

Below are the poems I used, and the lines..so everyone knows where I chose it from. This was lots of fun!

Thunderstorm Tears-Scream because I can't shout
And Daddy Cried-She was flying so how could she fall
Friendship Is…-That no reason can explain
How?- We used to be tighter than ropes on a ship
So who loosened the knots on the cord
Blind Eyes-Cluttered thoughts and jumbled words

Years Spent

Years spent building upon this friendship,
Just to watch crash, what used to stand tall.
He loved her with every beat of his heart,
And she was flying so how could she fall?

He thought, “We used to be tighter than ropes on a ship,
So who loosened the knots on the cord.”
Slowly unraveling all that they’d done
And breaking the treasures once stored.

What use were the memories made together,
Now just cluttered thoughts and jumbled words?
Silence and stiffness filled the thick air,
As reasons for leaving slowly occurred.

She tried to say something but to no avail,
So she asked her heart, “Scream because I can’t shout.”
He must have heard it’s pleading cries
And he too, let his own sufferings out.

“I’m sorry for not listening closer,
And not sparing your heart all this pain.
I should have been here more than I am
And for that…no reason can explain.”

She lifted her misty lashes to face him
And said, “I know I’ve made it hard, too.
If only we’d said what we’d meant sooner
So I’ll take the first step….I love you.”

There's definately still a spot. Yay! Hehe. Just one more spot left to go, then I'm hoping some of these reservations will be done...
I'm going to put an ending date for december 1st. (That gives plenty of time I think.)

Winter faeries drown in the world
*it's whiteness situated like a sea*
And last summer dreams are hurled

It hangs there still and dead

Through this frosty glass
within it I can see my reflection
as I draw my breath upon it
the moonlight shines clearly bright
as the sparkles in my eyes show past memories that flash before me

Now i think of all the pain you caused
I wish I didn't feel
I wish I could no longer love
take this temptation from me
free me from this misery
I want to be better off
now let me rip
strip the pieces of my soul
and start from scratch
then there is no need for a patch that is always left forever unmended
it just rips again when unattended

Send it across the moon
I will hitch a ride on a shooting star
or on the tip of the arrow that was shot straight through my heart
thats flames from hell relinquish whats left of me

So what is left of me?
Whats left to see?
emptiness has only left me scars
not alone but accompanied by my tears and fears all held in the palm of my hand

I want to end it now
just to land unharmed
yet no fixing the damage already done
cant stop what you've begun

I see the rain falling down
and turn around to find you
at the time convinced that I was not afraid to lose it all
Now I am back where I started sweeping u my own ashes
trying to make my bed the way it should have been made

Now nothing left but to confess
I can't deny I faked it
I want-ed you to be mine
Notice the past tense in that phrase?

drowned my thoughts
that is what they are worth to you
tired of giving in
lame excuses
boy your useless
It is not just showing me a good time
why try?
My life seems as worthless as a clock watching time go by

So used to this garbage I am compared to trash
So I have forgotten my own worth
who is there in my time of need when all you do is abandoned me?
I wanna go home
not sure where it is
if this is it I no longer feel secure

You tell me the things I want to hear
some days you take away the fears
I want to get out of here
and thats when your gone

And there you are again
taking a crash back into my life
cleaning up the shattered heart you abandoned in the first place
You made a mistake
but so did I when I decided to take you back

And yet when I break down I hear that devilish laugh saying I told you so
all this pain because of your mistake
instead of confronting you choose to hide
you would rather leave those thoughts behind you
and now the only thing behind you is me

Sorry that took a little longer than expected, but it was just so hard to pick! So you know: I copied and pasted each entry, as they came, so that I could see no names - thus holding no bias opinions...
