Rhyming can be very important. It can give your idea that flow that makes it desirable to read. Sometimes rhyming is not necessary, I admit, but it can help out a lot.

If you would like help with rhyming, just simply take the word you're rhyming and run it through the alphabet until you find a word you like. Some of the letters in front won't make coherent words, but at least one of them should make a sound that reminds you of a word that would work.

    ex. Week.

Aeek, Beek, Ceek, Deek, Eeek, Feek, Geek, Heek, Ieek, Jeek, Keek, Leek, Meek, Neek, Oeek, Peek, Qeek, Reek, Seek, Teek, Ueek, Veek, Week, Xeek, Yeek, Zeek.

As you see, some words in there that you could use. That's how I figure out words that rhyme.

Another possiblity is that your syllables (spelling) don't match up.
Say.. You have 5 syllables in one line and 10 in the other; that will completely throw the flow off of the poem, no matter how well the two words rhyme.

Does that make sense? Hope that helps.

You may rhyme if you like but don't let your will to rhyme change the intent of the poem. Many poems sound 'stupid' because the writer had to force a line so it would rhyme.

If your words have meaning and flow it doesn't matter about rhyming or how many syllables. I write my best when I just dont worry about what others will think. I do care about grammar and spelling though.

^ Agreed, much harder than free verse.

You know the moment you read a poem whether the author can write or not.

Some people believe they can write free verse when they are actually just jotting down random thoughts.

I find it very easy to rhyme. If you want you could email me any time ... I might actually help you. I agree with whoever said to use the alphabet... week... aeek... etc.

sometimes that works and then again sometimes not like if you have week.... you say ceek... and nothing comes but if you actually think about each word you could make creek... yeah whatever... hoped this helped!

Sometimez rhyming can help if you use sylables. Instead of one sylable words try to rhyme 2 or 3 sylable words.

ex1: You could make a poem with good /rhyming/
All you need is some practice and /timing/

    That was a 2 sylable rhyme here's a 3.

ex2: Practice makes better always room for /improvement/
When I started I was probably the worst /in Houston/
