Then do not say anything. It is better not to say anything than to say something that is meaningless.

I have commented on alot of poems. So why havn't I gotten an award for it. It is hard work for me to comment on so many poems.

When the system is updated you will get it. But to be honest I would rethink those oneliners you've been elaving because they don't help.

Nobody listens to what people tell them anyway. They are still going to write what they want and how they want, so I dont know why you care so much (RoadandtheRadio). It's really not a big deal. Sorry not everyone can be like you and leave everyone long comments. Most people don't even read them. Short ones are better anyway. Just knowing someone read your poem and commented on it is good enough even if it is one line.

The reason I care is because poetry can be about communicating and when somebody leaves a one line comment it could be that they might not have even read the poem. They usually leave the same comment word for word on other poems. Also maybe some people really do want to learn how to improve and how could you help if you just barely recognize the work in front of you by passing it off as nothing and writing these simple comments. USually not even noting the content/the words that stood out/ the descriptions/ the being trapped in the poet's world for a minute.

And I don't always leave long comments. Sometimes they are short but pack in more thought than the average that's good and I loved your poem.

" Most people don't even read them"

    ^
Lol, i allways read them, otherwise i feel guilty. I usually spend like 5 mins reading the poem and trying to understand it... Its just a habit. Then i comment (If i feel like it). I try to leave medium size comments.

It doesn't even have to be long to more thought put in them.

So if no one reads comments any ways or do not try to fix what people say maybe wrong with them then why should it matter if my comments are only one line. It is not that easy for me to write what I think about someones poems. I also do not want to hurt anyones feelings. So what is you'er guyses problem.

No I am not talking to every one.

Well for one some people do read comments. I read mine all the time or when I do get them and you can give constructive comments without making someone feel bad. What good is sucking up going to do?

Certain peopel I know leave one line comments that don't help. I will read their poems but do not ask them to read mine.

I read mine all the time to. I am not sucking up to anyone I am just telling the truth rather you like it or not. The only reason I may write one line comments that don't help is because I cant think of anything that would help that person or I just am not sure how to word it and stuff like that. I can I help anyone if they don't know what I am talking about or trying to tell them. hmm

First I meant everyone when I said that not pointing to one person. And yes you can find at least one thing wh ether it be your view on using punctuaion in a poem or not, one line that just didn't flow right, a guess at the deeper meaning, how something made you feel, how it made you think, what did you like, what areas were a bit weak?

  • Brittany C

I'm not good at that type of stuff. So who am I to suggest those type things to others?

You learn. You don't need to start with improvements jsut expan more on what you liked about the poem. Did you like a certain line? Why did you? How did one line make you feel? Just go into more detail on that and listen to what helpful comments you get and learn from taht too. For one, yes you could use some improvements on your poetry, heck nobody's perfect, but the goot hing is you have potential which is what I would write in a comment. In two sentences in could have alot of effort put into it by saying something like that than just great job and it lets people know they can work on theirs more.

Ok I'll try and work on my comments. Um sorry about snaping at you guess. I'm having a bad day.

It's alright. I just wish more people would go into more detail about why they like something in a poem. THat could help to just by showing somebody you did read it and this is what stood out the most.

Why all this talk of comments? Praise will come and go like candy, criticism, however, will pass you by as people, memories, love, and life passes you everyday.

Cherish it, feel it, learn from it and carry on.

The most fulfilling poems will leave you speachless...
