To answer Bob's question, and anyone else who wants to know:

Sometimes I will go into several different contests and find the same poem submitted in all of them. I don't really mind if it's old, as long as it hasn't been submitted in any other contest. I reallly hate reading the same poem over and over again.

So if it's old or new, makes no difference to me, just so long as this is the only contest it was entered in. I will update the change to the rules.

Every Christmas I shed a Tear

There’s always that one moment on Christmas Eve or day
Where I just have to shed one tear, and bow my head and pray
I pray for those loved ones who I desperately wish were here
In hopes God will hear me, and perhaps answer me one year

You think it’d be easy, to have a whole family together
But even family love, is one that might not last forever
Two people, who are close to my heart, are so very far
And each Christmas I shed a tear, each Christmas it’s hard

I get up early for once and rush to the Christmas tree
Make some Coco, coffee, orange juice and some warm tea
Go to wake everyone up, but always let down
Two people are missing, and it always causes me to frown

Regardless, Christmas is great, we send presents to each other
A gift goes to a continent for sissy and another state for my brother
I hear the excitement in their voices but aren’t with them face to face
Inside I wish we all were together, opening presents in one place

I’d give anything to hug my sister and look into her eyes
Watch her expression when opening a gift, since it’s been a surprise
I’d give anything to hug my brother and innocently smile
And watch him laugh with joy since it’s been quite a while

But since they can’t be here for reasons I accept
They are there in the dreams I’ve dreamt the hours that I’ve slept
And each year I hang their stockings above the roaring fire
Put their pictures out by the tree and for a moment just admire

It’d be different just to look at them and see them looking back
But they are here with me in spirit and I am so thankful for that
Merry Christmas Sissy, Merry Christmas brother number two
Each Christmas I shed a tear when thinking of you

Enjoy your gifts and enjoy this holiday
I’m thinking of you both and have remembered to pray
For those who have a big family, be sure to show them you care
Because it’s really hard I tell you, to have one of them not be there

    The chandelier of heaven lights
    Descend upon the waking night
    Serenity plays upon winter bliss
    Everything with love exists
    Wake up children, morning sings
Spread your mind, spread your wings
The angels cheer with Christmas hymns
    Waiting for laughter to begin

Look at those small almond eyes
Look how bright they seem to shine
    Drinking in the perfect portrait
Of ruby red orbs on the tips
Of a large shimmering emerald tree
And the whiteness situated like a sea
Or like a carpet of small opal jewels
    Still, silent and wondrously cool

Dig into your pool of presents
    Embrace upon the warming scent
For once, enjoy the sweet emotions
    And the yelling family commotion
For once, be thankful of the love
That God has sent from high above
And just remember now to cherish
For one day, those things will fade and perish

    Xx Oh Christmas Tree xX

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
Why oh why, do you mock me
It is because your full of cheer
While I sit alone over here?

Every December I start to dread
The day they dress you in gold and red
With fun and laughter they deck you out
You love the attention, I have no doubt

Your in the corner where everyone stays
Crowding around you, all in a daze
Seriously, who do you think you are?
Coming in here with your gaudy star

Why they love you, I have no idea
But thank god, it's only once a year
That you come out and take my place
This whole charade is a disgrace!

I get moved so you have room
I hope this holiday's over soon
Oh what's the point in having this rant?

    Think of Them on Christmas
    by HiddenxSoul

When I was a young child
Christmas to me was fun and games
    Sitting around the burning turkey
We were a perfect picture, a non-dying flame

I looked forward to Christmas morning
Seeing if dear Santa had arrived
Trying to sleep the night before was torture
    I really don’t know how I survived

    Ripping off the colourful paper
I had not a single care at all
    A doll, a puzzle, a Playstation game
A brand new poster for my wall

But as I got much older
    The questions began to arise
What about all the poor little children?
All the war fighters dying before our eyes?

What do they get on Christmas morning?
    A bullet, a knife, a bomb?
While they fight for our countries
We are enjoying a festive prom

So all I ask for this wonderful Christmas
Is not for a brand new doll
All I want from you before you celebrate
Is to think of the people who take the fall

On Christmas day we share with our loved ones
Precious memories from the past year
But what about all those other people
How do they get their Christmas cheer?

    This Little Teddy Bear

This little teddy, sitting on display
He wanted to get out, he wanted to play
So he propped himself up and sat up straight
As for Christmas, he just couldn’t wait
As more and more people passed on by
This little guy, he wanted to cry
But a girl walked in, she was different from the rest
He couldn’t tell what it was, but he tried to act his best
Se walked into the store, her eyes caught his gaze
She had been looking for the perfect gift for days
She planned it out so well, but something was missing
She wanted everything perfect, down to the mistletoe kissing
She spotted the bear, sitting in a row
As soon as she picked him up, the teddy did know
He was something special, going to be given out
Now there was no way he was going to pout
She picked up his case and looked in his eyes
She knew then and there, she finally realized
He would love this, that much she knew
The teddy bear thought, “Can’t wait to meet you.”
The teddy bear looked back into her eyes
But there was something there he couldn’t realize
There was something there hidden, it was something so sad
That it kinda made the teddy feel really bad
A sadness so deep, he couldn’t believe
It was all because she knew he would have to leave
But it went away, away as quick as it came
Replaced by thoughts of choosing the teddy’s name
She had many, but one caught her eye
“Gabriel, I’ll call you; my angel from the sky.
To protect him from anything that could get in his way,
A perfect gift for him for this Christmas Day.”
So she smiled a little as she held him tight
She knew that in her heart, that this was right
So she bought him and took him to her home
Where he would never have to feel so alone
She took a bit of string and slid it through her ring
She tied it around Gabe’s neck; she knew the smile it’d bring
Shining its silver, the small Celtic knot
Even though he’s going away, his heart would not
It would stay in her heart, as part of one whole
Two bodies conjoined, to form one soul
So as he opens he present, she has one thing to say
“Merry Christmas Baby! I love you in every way.”

    hope it's okay =]

    Coolio.

    French Poem.

    L’hiver

    La neige vierge,
La neige tombe à la terre.
    Les flacons de neige.
    Elles tombent, et elles tombent,
    Elles flottent à la terre.

    C’est beau,
    Très beau.
    C’est merveilleux
    Si merveilleux.

    Les lumières de Nöel.
    Les lumières sont très brillantes.
    Sur les arbres de Noël;
Et sur les maisons pour Noël.

    C’est beau,
    Très beau.
    C’est merveilleux
    Si merveilleux

    L'hiver.
    C'est l'hiver.
    La niege pour le monde.
    L'hiver.
    C'est l'hiver.
    Joyeux Noël pour le monde.

    Translation-

    Winter

    The virgin(freshly fallen) snow,
The snow falls to the earth.
    The snow flakes.
    They fall, and they fall,
    They float to the earth.

    It is beautiful,
    Very beautiful.
    It is marvelous, (wonderful)
    So marvelous. (wonderful)

    The lights of Nöel.
    The lights are very brilliant.
    On the Christmas trees;
And on the houses for Christmas.

    It is beautiful,
    Very beautiful.
    It is marvelous, (wonderful)
    So marvelous. (wonderful)

    [The] winter.
    This is [the] winter.
    [The] snow for the world.
    [The] winter.
    This is [the] winter.
    Joyous Christmas for the world.

The the's are an actual translation.. but they dont sound right for us. lol. i know i'm not going to win. but i thought maybe y'all would like to read my (a 9th grade french student's) french poem. lol.

    Merry Christmas To You

It’s that time of the year
When all the kids will cheer
At night there is no sound
And in the morning presents are found

You sing carols through the town
And you’ll never see a frown
When the spirit of Christmas was free
And it was just about family
That’s how it used to be

    Now Frosty’s always torn apart
    And families do often part
While some are spending it alone
Others are just yelling at home

The bullets blazing through the hour
And most people’s hearts have all gone sour
Disdain and anger flowing through the streets
And coal should be most children’s treats

    Happiness will always break
When we learn that Santa is a fake
And since the War is going on
    Perhaps anger has indeed won.

So little children learn to pray
For their parents who’ve gone away.
But the death rate only grew
So I guess Merry Christmas to you
