Alright, firstly, this choice is completely yours. People can give you their opinion, but somewhere deep down inside you, you probably have already made up your mind and nobody is going to be able to stop you from makin' that particular choice.
Secondly, yes love is all about taking risks, and compromises, and pain, and happiness and a whole bunch of confusing stuff. If you're willing to risk your heart knowing he may never love you, then keep loving him and try it out again.
If you're more worried about protecting yourself from hurt, and/or seeing him happy (even if that means his feelings going away) then leave him be...
And lastly, I too love someone who doesn't love me back; he also lives halfway around the world, so I see him even less than you see your friend... Over all,I can understand your pain. And if you were to ask me if I would take back my choice about keeping him, even though the relationship changed, I would say yes... I would've let him go so long ago if I knew things would be so hard. However, I would never take back falling in love with him in the first place, because now I know the emotion of it all...
Anyway, good luck and best wishes. -Stefhy-
