I don't think anything REALLY happens, other than maybe a while in the pysic ward. I don't understand why suicide is a crime anyway. |

i dont think you go to jail..well at least most of the time. Suicidal people, to them, are considered to have a mental problem. So i think they would require them to stay at a mental hospital or an institution or something. Not prison. |

As of 1963, six states consider suicide a crime. Those states being North and South Dakota, Washington, New Jersey, Nevada, and Oklahoma. |

ohh i asked this question in another post but it answers it here. i didn't think you went to jail. i mean i've tried a few times and have just ended up under suicide watch in a psych hospital the police didn't even suggest me being charged and goin to jail....if people were to go to jail i think its a load of bullshit. most suicidal people can't be responsible for their actions. they are mentally unwell. |

It's illegal to "euthenise" ones self.....other words suicide, but the courts usually would make a person go see a psychiatrist the most I presume they would get is community service or suspended sentence. |

No one stated you would be arrested. It is simply considered a crime in six states as of 1963. |

yeah, u will never be jailed for attempted suicide but legal action can definetly be taken against a person, hopefully everyone gets the help they need because that is what the law is there for to protect your individual rights and safety as a community... if your life is in danger the law is there to help, not to send u to jail....who would even think of putting a suicidal person in jail, thats just completely ridiculous...many people would probably be advised to get a psych-analysis, to determine the stability of the mind.....and then would go to a clinical psychiatrist(if needed)... atleast thats what its like here. |
