I havent posted anything in a long time, so I figured with New Years looming over my head I had to start something.

- A new start
- A new dedication
- New Years Day (or the idea of new years)

The poem may be something you have already written, or something you just wrote for this contest.

I would also like the poems to be upbeat since New Years is about a fresh start and new beginnings.

Make Myself Over

This year, I'm going to
Make myself over
From the girl I thought I knew
The girl that broke quickly when no one pulled her through

I'm that girl; I'm here to make a choice
Join in with others or shout with my voice
What do I do? I'm not sure but I
Am not letting the future pass me by

This year, I'm going to
Keep all of my friends
I'll say hi to strangers at school
May my friendships never end

I'll paint a great picture and hang it on the wall
This year, for love, I'll try to fall
This year, I'll try to be... an optomist
And try to not get pissed

Yeah, right now I'm smiling
I think I'm going to smile once every day
I won't let the down sides get in my way
I want to smile with perfect timing

This year, I'm going to
Begin a book and write a page
Of simple dedications to those I love
And send that book to heaven above

This year, I'll become
Someone's inspiration
A great friend
And share my dreams

I am definantly going to have to not do this then., the poem i wanted to enter.. lets just say wasn't upbeat.. at all. sorry. =[

A new year approaches
with sparkles of hope in its eyes,
like fireworks arrayed in a tangle of freedom,
of joy and regret and newness.

A day when the past is too clear,
but the future- a little less hazy
and the two collide in happy chaos
at a countdown of ten to one.

We smile and parade about,
embracing the champagne of our future
and wishing upon the glamour of hope
for a new and prosperous year.

“Together forever!”, we cheer
savoring the last minute of a dream
and walk side by side gallantly
into the abnormality of tomorrow.

Hey lauren I read your poem about you being raped by someone you loved. it weas a very touching yet obscure poem. I only knew it was a rape story when you said so. though i found it intriguing once i read it agian with that knowledge. EXCELLENT!

So tonights the night...hmm. you know technically you're late cause midnight is the next day so you should've done it this morning. I understand wehat you mean but technically your incorrect. Just another loving reminder how much better I am then you xD.
