    CLOSED WINNERS AT BOTTOM!

Okay, so I used to not like free verse poetry. It didn't make sense to me. But recently, some poets have made me think twice, and I feel I've come to appreciate it more. So what I'd like to do is hold a contest for all those who enjoy free verse poetry and write it! But, it's a ONE DAY contest!!!!!

    Rules:
    No cussing
    No profanity.
    Nothing dark or about cutting.

The winner will receive 5 comments! And the winner will be chosen based upon whose poem I feel moved me the most....made me believe free verse is great!
    Simple as that.

    Love Stops For No One

    Yes my dear,
But love stops for no one,
    It sneaks up on you,
    And holds you forever.

    And you have to admit,
    You love loves tender hold,
    Never letting go of you,
As if holding you safely forever.

    And soon you'll find yourself,
    Addicted to love's hold,
    Wanting it forever,
    To never let go.

    And forever love will stay,
    Living fast and strong,
    Never letting go,
    As it plays their song.

    ~She strums alone~
    by Melissa

I do not own exquisitely worded phrases
    that could possibly explain why
    my foolish heart is strumming

    another tune
    from her subconscious,
    those moronic thoughts taste everything
especially what needn't be licked at all

And tonight I am starved for attention,
as my fingers bleed their acoustic dreams
from a solo song in dire need
    of beating this heartbreaking denial
    that still sings about gentleness

even after the petals are all gone

    Broken Knots

    Sleeves wet with tears
    Sheets stained with paint
Smears of black run down her face
    Oh what has she become?

    Another screaming match
    Echoing through the house
One knows better then the other
But yet they’re both so very wrong

    The true bond of sisterhood
    Tied up with a knot
One so tight no one can break it
Yet just above the rope is breaking

She is hanging by a thread
    Hanging with a hope
    That some day soon
    Things will be of smiles

The knot of sister hood will prevail
    But the two ropes intertwined
    Could snap undone any day
    As time wears it down

Her sleeves are wet with tears
As the final thread has broke
Her once known sister, has slashed it
    And laughed as she disappeared

Laughed as she fell to darkness
    With cheeks stained sapphire
    And sleeves wet with tears

Hopefully you don't mind it being a little lengthy, but I was going through my poems adn finding ones that people really seem to like, and I came across this one. If it is too long let me know. I'll just change it to my other one.

    'Mistaken'

    In a dimly lit room,
    Surrounded by bars,
    And drunken demons,
    Sat a beautiful child.

    A young girl,
    Blond hair,
    Blue eyed beauty,
    Grinning with no regrets.

    A smirk of success,
    She got you back,
    She said she would,
    Remember.

    That one night,
    A couple months ago,
    You killed her,
    Shattered her heart.

    You crushed her world,
    Letting it crumble,
    Through stone cold fingers,
    Mercilessly.

    Over her shoulder,
    She yelled through tears,
    "You'll regret that you lied,
    And you too shall die."

    Her intentions were clear,
    She wanted you to suffer,
    She wanted you to feel,
    Every inch of her pain.

    You deserved it,
    You cheated,
    You lied,
    You promised.

    "I love you,
    Now and forever,"
    You always said,
    Faking a smile.

    Soon she realized,
    Your lies,
    Your promises,
    To other girls.

    Saying they will
    Forever be yours,
    Treating them
    All the same.

    In the end,
    Treating them like crap,
Like they are all the same,
    There to feed your needs.

    She developed,
    Pure hatred,
    For you,
    And those alike.

    Vowed to hate,
    And seek revenge,
    On those jerks,
    Who tormented her.

    Even if,
    It led her to this:
    A jacked up cell,
    In a jacked up world.

    She had to do it,
    Not just for her,
    But those other girls,
    She drew a gun.

    She left you a note,
    On your car window,
    Saying to meet her,
    One last time.

    That night,
    She confronted you,
    Whispering,
    One last word.

    "Good-bye."

    So, Here's To Going Back.
    by BriBri

    Baby, I’m yours
    You should never doubt that
We may argue & we may fight
But we always work our way through

Don’t be scared of losing me
Stop being so jealous all the time
    Baby, I promise you. .
I’ll always be yours. I’m not going anywhere.

I miss the way it used to be
When you and I always got along
    Never once did we fight
Just full of smiles & laughter

I want to go baby. . Go back
To how things were, how they used to be
Before I went and messed it all up
I’m truly sorry for what I did

I may not understand you sometimes
    But I do understand this
I’ll always love you with all my heart
    & I wouldn’t leave you for anything

Baby, I want to stop all this fighting
    It’s driving me insane
Every second that goes by, I get more scared
    I don’t want to lose you, baby. . I can’t

So grab my hand, & hold on tight
We’re going back to where we went wrong
No more fighting, baby. We’re going to be okay
So here’s to going back. . To laughter & smiles.

    Sometimes I wonder...
    by J. Lau

If everything happened for a reason,
    What purpose did I serve,
When I entered into your life?

    Am I just a stranger?
Who happened to be his best friend,
And knew all that happened between you and him?

    Am I simply a friend?
    Who you were comfortable with,
And had absolutely no feelings for?

Am I the comforter I once described?
Who was there by your side,
And comforts you when you cry?

    Am I your guardian angel?
    Who guards and help you,
    When you needed most?

Am I the soul mate that you need?
Who shared all your joy and sorrows,
And a true friend you can count upon?

    Am I the passing cloud?
    That happened to be there,
And slowly disappears when the sky clears up?

Am I the rainbow in the sky?
That brings you joy for that brief moment,
And fades away when the sun shines again?

    Am I the white Christmas?
    That happens only on occasion,
And fulfills a part of your life when all else fails?

Or am I the destined one?
Who will love and cherish you,
For the rest of our lives?

    Sometimes I wonder...
    How I got myself tangled,
    In this complicated situation.

    But one thing for sure,
That makes all that I wondered,
    Not at all important,
Is that I know... I love you so.

    Me and You

    Hold me in your arms
just this once, me and you.
    protect me in your arms
and let the night slip by.
    hold me close
so close, as if we were one.
    don't let me go,
just this once, me and you.
    hold me tight
    listen to our hearts
    faster they beat,
    but still one sound.
hold me forever in your arms,
for we are one, me and you

    The Glass Heart
    by Twisted Heart

    The glass menagerie
    tainted by the amber glow
    Of lost dreams

    Humbled by the winds
of the changes of the times
    Now sits in slumber

    Upon a shelf of neglect
covered with the webs of pain
    It cries in silence

    Releasing the thoughts
of a lost love that was forgotten
    Never to be found

The shivers causes it to fall
into the harsh reality of cold's embrace
    Tiny pieces scatter.

    Now broken promises
are evident in the many pieces of glass
    That lie upon the soul.
