    Loves Ratio [Valentine ode]
    by Kevin Murray

Roses are dread and violets run through,
hearts and minds on such a day,
that come ye all for 24,
such as love for once is focussed,
and once for love all kinds agree,
even shops and cops so graciously,
allow for a day and do decree,
that Love is grand and should be free.

    From R.T.V.W

    Dreading the "Loving" Day

I’m not so much a happy person
    Ever since my wife died
    Holidays have become a waste
My holiday spirit has been dried

I visit her grave all the time
    Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines Day
I talk to her, pray for her
Still, I never run out of words to say

I see the gifts I brought a while back
The pink bear has turned to brown
The rose’s dead just like her
My smile quickly turns to a frown

Must have been an idiot to think
The box of Chocolates wouldn’t melt
    But there they are; untouched
Now liquid and soft is how they felt

Valentines Day has become over rated
Young students in school think its “fun”
They think they know what love is
And took the meaning right out of this one

A strong love should be celebrated
    On February the fourteenth
The one like her and I celebrated
    But now she’s somewhere beneath

So before you go away and give
A rose or teddy bear to your mate
Try to use the meaning of this day
Don’t give gifts if you just had six dates

Some people who have had true love
Can’t spend it with their loved one anymore
Like me, they dread it every year
And its become a waste and a bore

    For RTVW:

    Smile My Love

When you smile your smile for me
My life fills with roses, lavender and lust
The sparkle in your eye sets my heart a flutter
Every day is Valentine’s Day with you in my life
Each night is passion, love and lust…my wife

So smile that smile and take me on a journey
Guide me through a land of satin sheets
A steamy jungle of passionate love play
Bubbles in a hot bath and a cool glass
Licking your lips, dressed like a school lass

Let me see that sly little grin fueled with desire
As we kiss each other again and again
Cool chocolate laced upon your warm skin
As you become my sexy valentine candy
Nights like this will keep us young and dandy

Purse your lips and grind your hips my love
Valentines is not a day for us, but a way of life
Love is never ending with you in my arms
Other couples make the fourteenth a romantic day
We have chosen a Valentine life, we can love no other way

He placed in my hands a single red rose
You are my heart,my dreams, my soul
I could never walk away from you
Not that I would ever try

He spoke to my heart in beautiful lies
    I listened,I hoped , I cried

You are the sunshine that lights my way
My passion in the night, my comfort by day.
Your eyes are like magic, they hypnotize

He spoke to my heart in beautiful lies
    I listened, I hoped, I cried

You`ll forever be the wife of my heart
    Though I`d never loved before
I loved you from the start
The thought of losing you devastates my mind

He spoke to my heart in beautiful lies
    I listened,I hoped , I cried

On Valentines day , he said goodbye
Not a single tear filled his eyes
A million reasons, not one of them true
A deep red rose now turned blue
    Now in sadness I realize

He spoke to my heart in beautiful lies
    I listened, I hoped, I cried.

    Valentine’s Day – Remembering

The yearning awakened, a hunger renewed,
Desire long buried with trappings of youth,
When dreams were as real as the dawn’s rising sun,
Adventures each day, never walked, always run.

Mem’ries rekindled of hand holding hand,
Tendered with smiles as we walked in the sand.
Sharing our wishes and stories, we’d plan,
Knowing forever was our promised land.

The lyrics of truth were soon lost in the din
Of playing for others so I would to fit in.
The passion now buried, the joy thrives no more,
I toil to please masters, now, my daily chore.

But one day a year, I welcome the pain,
Force open the vault to hope buried in vain.
Believe, for one moment, that I can go back
To follow my heart, instead of the pack.

    Hearts, candy, chocolates and pain

    This, the day lovers celebrate
    Aphrodite worshiped, and Cupid embraced
    Fingers intertwined, eyes captivated
All of this just to further our race?

This can not be true, I know
These feelings tied to a dream of being with you
My lips melting as I fantasise your taste
Forever I'm trapped here, both separated and as one with you

Valentines Day, rings like torture in my skull
My heart slipping through your fumbling fingers
While you to try to juggle mine and another
Is all this effort worth it, when all you get is blood on your hands?

Let my heart fall, shatter into pieces on the wooden floor
Yours is already being held securely by another
The love you chose over mine breaks me more then any fall ever could
Allow my heart to restored, by caring hands
So next Valentines Day I can have everything that I planned

    Black Roses and Broken Valentines
    By: Twisted Heart

The heart has left it's legaacy
    upon the broken soul
    Among the black pitch memories
    that lie within it's folds
The web of pain has breached the mind
    and brought upon the moon
    A blank reflection of neglect
    that hides within the ruins.

Inside the thunder, a tremble wakes
    upon the icy dew
    Piercing darkness with the shards
of light that comes in view
    Forever lost upon the crest
    of falling tears of time
    Inside the black-laced emptiness
    that adorns my valentine.

A cupid came and dashed my heart
    giving doubt its due
A midst the pieces of a soul
    that died from loving you
Black roses sit upon the stone
of where my heart once lived
Now dead within the chambered thoughts
    and so hard to forgive.

Remembered for the love we shared
    now darkness overcomes
    The light of brittle faithfulness
    lost sparks that's come undone
Inside the hopeless tears that's crushed
my heart, my soul, my mind
    Dreams wasted on the pages
    of a broken valentine.

Eh, mines not half as good as yours are guys but here it is...

    Happy Valentines Day

    I stood at the grave,
    Looked down to the dirt.
    Trying to be brave,
And not show how much I was hurt.

    Valentines day is here,
I have flowers in my hand.
    Now come the tears,
    As I lay them down.

    My mother was my everything,
    She was my whole world.
I’d watch her as she’d sing.
Smiles all over, eyes full of happiness.

She died about a year ago today,
    In a drunk driving accident.
So I’ve come to say hello, if I may.
I get up and look at the grave once more.

    Some say that valentines day,
Is a day of love between a man and a woman.
Well for me, its not that way.
    Its just another holiday.

    Everyone at school,
Is passing out heart shaped cards.
    Trying to look cool,
    Claiming they felt love.

    I look at the flowers,
    Daises were her favorite.
I felt like I stood there for hours,
    Just staring at the grave.

    Maybe I did,
    But I really don’t’ mind.
    Because valentines day,
Is just another day left behind.

    "Every Tomorrow"

Me and you sitting on open plains
watching the sun fall to its early sleep
I turn and stare into your eyes
and see open hearts merging into one

    when i see your smile
and the sun reflecting from your crystal eyes
you fill my heart with tears, smiles and most of all love

our love spreads through the air
makeing nature fall back to its beauty
me and you pick up a flower
eternity it will take to pluck every pedal

when our lips touch the stars fall for us
because the light we make soars forever more
    cupids arrow never touched
making our love true to the angels above

you said you wish this day lasts forever
baby you make valentines day every tomorrow

    -A fool's errand-

Single yet again on this hallmark holiday,
The boy I long for is alone too,
I jokingly say that we are alone together,
But oh how amazing if it were true
Who wouldn’t want to be with you?

A fool’s errand it is to chase this love,
It slowly chips away at my poor heart,
    You don’t even know this,
I long for you even when we are apart,
Why can’t my emotions be smart?

So when Cupid aims his arrow,
Let it choose cleverly my love,
I would obtain this love for just a day,
Maybe I am just a girl you get tired of,
And I will let this love fly away like a dove.

    Valentine’s day,
    Please be sweet,
    I don’t want another heartbreak,
I’ll just enjoy the tiny little treats,
But a love on this day would make it complete.

    The Nightingale

    for RTVW

I still recall the summer nights,
the quiet sigh of swaying trees,
that made, beneath the silver moon,
the dance of shadows in the breeze.

And here, where beauty seized me so,
and washed my strength away in tears,
I met my hope, the nightingale,
of whom I`d dreamt for many years.

'Tis strange how love comes swift to me,
and 'neath a moon that still hung high,
I laid my heart to rest in her
ere light of morning pearled the sky.

So deep the hearts of nightingales.
For me, she would endure the light
while knowing it would taint her dreams
to see the world not draped in night.

But men have hearts of lesser strength
and will not sacrifice as much,
as nightingales would do for love,
and dare not loose themselves in such.

And as the darkness lessened some
    I gazed upon my nightingale,
and knew her love would outlive mine,
for love, in me, is all to frail.

Lest wind, in twilight's sweet embrace
would sweep the dust off of her past,
and tell through restless whispers, tales
to make the love for me her last.

I chose to leave this nightingale
as drop by drop, upon her eyes
there fell the memory of love,
in sleep beneath the starry skies.

For one who swore unto himself
    to never wander nights again,
'tis hard to see the sun descend
not seeking comfort in his pen.

The Fool Says in Her Heart

    In the sunbeams
where I used to glimpse God,
now I see the light glinting off
    your tousled hair.

The taut blue bow of a sky
which used to hold a throne, heavenly
    and metaphorically crowned with
    Truth, now holds for me
    beauty only,
    beauty pure,
beauty empty and reflected by your eyes.

    Now you are the object,
the idol, an adulterous love; strange,
that I would worship your enchanting lips
when all the while my old hymns are
    falling empty.

The God of fire and water, of
    spirit-moving-over, of bread and wine,
of thunder in the sky -
    Eloi,
    Eloi, lema sabachthani?
How is it that I find
    You, the essential You, reflected
darkly in the countenance of my lover?

Why can I not find my binds, find my life, my
    consummation
in the arms of the eternal?

How is it that I replace the Ultimate with this,
    this desperate, delicious, delicate and
    devastating desire?

Truly I would surrender all, all to the All,
    give up my stupid, foolish,
    virgin reticence,
    give all
    to one.

So catch me, God or Man, and my life will
    fall,
    aching and willing
    into your strong hands.

    My Forever Valentine

    Great mountains spill and
    the earth does quake
    and love sometimes teeters on
    the petals of a dream

    Only to wake up alone
realizing, you are so very alone
then to live and die within the
    same agonizing breath

    Stinging tears pierce my heart
    my foolish, foolish heart
then to realize, be there not
beauties found, even within our flaws

    As I weep for forgiveness
you stroke my hair and kiss my lips
    and at that very moment
your heart fits perfectly in mine

    Great mountains spill and
    the earth does quake
    and love sometimes teeters
    but you will always remain

    "Your Reason Why"

Because a gentle heart bleeds for mankind’s disgrace
Angered at the delinquency of society’s morals
Discouraged by the bleak emotions of vulnerability

Hypnotized at the imperfections of a virile mask
Each thought and feeling evident in knowing eyes
Yearning for the days of simplistic innocence

Pleasantly charmed by the ill conceived humor
Trapped in the skin of a gravely complex man
Erupting in moments of surprise and hilarity

For the exquisite tenderly crafted hands
Tracing patterns of sensual love so immense
Spirituality radiates from the depths of your heart

A friendship grown beyond the boundaries known
To those who study the language of human nature
Trusting what many believe to be only legend

Conscious of the light that brilliantly brightens
The smoky depths of your masculine eyes
As they descend upon my gracious smile

Thankful for the unending mercy of god
A gift of love I shall eternally cosset
For a time when I shall no longer grace mortality

    forest savior

Im like a bird trapped in the trees
Just waiting for loves storm to cease
The storm which throws me around
Breaking my wings, letting me fall to the ground
Crashing upon the ferns of life
Cutting my flesh upon the green knife
Another cut bleeding eternally within me
Another broken tap creating the red sea
I watch the last of my hope struggle to survive
Whilst I wonder why I allowed myself to still be alive
“Wait a little longer” the trees seem to whisper in my ear
“Let cupid strike you once more, theres nothing left to fear”
So here I am no longer hiding in the trees
For the day has come, when loves storm finally ceased
Upon the day god has blessed us with
The day where you get what you give
This bird is now flying from the trees
Endlessly falling towards razor sharp leaves
Bracing itself for cuts and tears
Ready to relinquish hope and give into its fears
But then it feels the pressure of your heart and beating wings
My savior is what Valentines Day brings

    Valentine Lake
    For RTVW

I dreamt the night, I dreamt the night,
In amber tones bathed with lilac light,
With softened cries, my breath is still,
I dreamt the night on tomorrow’s hill,

I dreamt the touch, I dreamt the touch,
His hand in mine, interlocked as such,
His hair wheat soft, tucked in my hold,
I dreamt the night in fields of marigold,

I dreamt the sight, I dreamt the sight,
Our heartbeats match in our goodnight,
His breath on me, his eyes droop closed,
I dreamt the night, my thoughts exposed,

I dreamt the night, I dreamt the night,
The rarest form of love’s guiding light,
Our formal bond, child I shall not break,
I dreamt the night, on Valentine lake,

Our formal bond, child I shall not break,
My baby I’ll rock you on Valentine lake.
