    Sirens
    By Astryd

    Bound to this island
    It is our only home,
    Singing songs of seduction
    To the souls who roam.
    Searching for an adventure
    To immortalize their name,
    They follow our voices
    And we feel no shame.

    We long for the days
    When we roamed free,
    Bound only by our pledge
    And our obedience to Persephone.
    Here we remain eternal
    On these rocks to linger,
    To ponder our actions
    While growing in anger.

    To the sailors who sail past
    We shall not turn our heads,
    We shall introduce you to your fate
    Where rocks humble ships.
    For the lives that are lost
    May deliver us from our demise,
    To free us from this form
    We have come to despise.

    Protected by love
    by Ilinca Milosan

    A knight in shining amour, although unlike the ones in fairytales,
    Rides his black majestic horse and to the God of Justice hails.
    From dawn till dusk he fights the evil that’s unleashed in his land,
    Wherever help is needed, he’ll rush there to lend a hand.

    His beautiful Gabrielle in her simple white and silver dress
    Greets him with a hug and kiss for evil he tries so hard to oppress.
    And every day she goes out to gather fresh fruit and flowers,
    She never falls asleep without him even if she must wait for hours.

    One day the God of War got really angry for this brave knight
    With his endless strength and courage stopped almost every fight
    And there’s was no more “fun” for him and so he thought
    To ask Hades for help and they planned this evil plot.

    When the knight was out fighting his loved one went for a walk
    And when she bent to pick up some berries by a harpy she was caught.
    The creature took her in the Underworld and chained her to the Wailing Wall
    Where no one could find her or could her desperate call.

    That night her loved one came home only to find and empty house –
    No one was there, everything was silent even the little mouse.
    “Gabrielle? Where are you?” he shouted looking for her all around,
    But no matter where he looked she was no where to be found.

    Desperately, he went outside with sour tears in his tired eyes
    As he heard a voice that told him “Hades’ harpy took her by surprise
    And now she lays below us, in the Underworld – the realm of the dead,
    Take this road to find the entrance and don’t let yourself by insecurity mislead”

    He looked around but he was all alone and couldn’t understand
    From where that voice came and how it knew the path towards that land,
    But he tried to push his insecurities away and keep his mind clear
    For he must focus on finding his Gabrielle, so he needn’t fear.

    After hours of walking down the road he finally reached the door
    That led him into Hades’ land and got him closer to its core
    Where the Wailing Wall is raised from the pain of those
    That have suffered through eternity - for how long, only Hades knows.

    “Release my love, you merciless God or I’ll kill you and your minions!”
    “You fool! You are alone, a one-man-army and we are millions!”
    “Do not enrage me more than I already am for you don’t know what I can do,
    And if you don’t release her the one who’ll be begging for mercy will be you!”

    Hades laughed with despise and summoned his demons and harpies
    “You cannot stop me from killing you with the help of creatures such as these!”
    And as he said those words he was crushing his enemies’ bones
    And after many hours of battle they were all as useless as stones.

    “Here!” he said pointing to the remaining fragments of bones and flesh
    “Is this the help you rely on? Now, you’ll be dead before they ‘refresh’!”
    And with these last words he drew his sword once more
    Wanting to put a stop to this God that knows nothing more than abhor.

    “Wait! Stop, please!” the knight behind him heard a female voice
    “Please, don’t kill him, you can have your Gabrielle, please make this choice!”
    To his amazement Persephone had come from a darkened corner
    With drops that seemed to be tears in her eyes buried in disorder.

    Before the knight had a chance to answer, Persephone set Gabrielle free,
    “It was Ares that made the plan, not my Hades so please let him be!”
    Although at first in disbelief, the knight felt confident with his love by his side
    “I’ll let him live, but only because you begged me to and have not lied”

    The two lovers ran away from that horrid place and were again together
    “I felt so guilty when I did not find you at home, could you forgive me ever?”
    “Of course, my darling, how can I not? I love you so much, you know
    It was not your fault and even if it were I cannot ever let you go!”

    As they were embracing, Hades – the ungrateful one – had a plan,
    He could not rest until dead will be this daring man.
    And as he was about to strike them as they silently slept
    He was shocked when the beautiful Aphrodite with him met.

    “Dare not severed them from life or you will have to deal with me
    And by the Elder Gods I shall have all but mercy for thee!”
    Her voice was powerful and it made Hades fright
    So he went back to his realm and left alive Gabrielle and her knight.

    The Goddess of love made sure the lovers will be left in peace
    And love was the one that helped our knight his maiden release,
    For the powerful love the two of them share
    Was the only thing that made Aphrodite about them really care.

    I know it's long, but that's the problem with poems that have a storyline XD If you want me to take it out, tell me :) Hope you like it though!

    Basilisk

    She whispers symphonies of sound
    Forked tongue, golden crowned
    Venom in her astringent kiss
    Slithering silence, exhaling hiss

    Eyes of flame and fiery abyss
    A hellish glint, stares never miss
    Dark beauty in a final breath
    Slit-pupil eyes foretelling death

    Scales of silver and emerald green
    An armored tomb of glossy sheen
    Monstrous grip, hunger driven
    Sting and torture, victim given

    She softly sings a song of doom
    Tears swelling from each iris bloom
    Beast of burden, she is condemned
    Solitude seeming her best of friend

    For vengeance satisfies but little
    When shields of valor so very brittle
    In coiled sleep, she seeks serenity
    Simply to wake, existence infinity

    --------------------------------------------------
    I'm going to explain my poem a bit, just for the hell of it. Basilisks have poisonous venom and eyes delivering death...as to say, sudden death awaits those foolish enough to meet a Basilisk's gaze. I tried to use the sound 'ssss' a lot in this poem, to accentuate the snake feeling (hiss)...a touch I hope is slightly noticeable. I also tried to grasp the feeling that basilisks are very alone. How desolate would it feel to never meet the eyes of another without killing them? I'd think it would make a Basilisk very bitter about life, envious of those who may experience the connection of eyes meeting. Lastly, I tried to express near the end, the immortality of a Basilisk. After endless years of solitude; and empty life--vengeance upon those who live for the moment, experience interaction and closeness to others, etc...would seem the only spark of life left.

    This is a little long but please please please pretty please consider it:)

    I fell in love with a Minotaur last night
    And felt dragonflies pierce the dawn
    T'was silent but for the fireworks
    That rung in our ears alone

    The lights up on Blackpool tower
    And the charred fire wood
    Were snuffed out by our passion
    Of tameless chaos where we stood

    Was it the hair of this timeless beast?
    Or those sullen eyes?
    That devoured life's useless web of tactics
    Destroyed the brain's demise

    He was at least 3 times my size
    And I was dressed in virgin white
    Purity leaked from my limbs
    Electricity blinded my sight

    And the wind shattered me into his grip
    And we were waxed into time and place
    The bubbles of passion and faerie rings
    Clouds crushed my heart of lace

    My fingers drooled and my tongue shrivelled
    Heart was gone and caked with sweat
    Windmills whirled and corn crops blossomed
    Fish swarmed the skies, not fishing nets

    Tomorrows shattered and light bulbs too
    Labyrinths draped behind the gate
    Whip ready and eyes tightly shut
    The human race will just have to wait....

    Into the Sea

    Deep into this murky sea
    Searching for the unknown
    Myths of a creature lie
    Within this place he roams.

    Down we go, in this metal ship.
    What protection does it provide?
    If this danger does exist,
    There's no where we can hide.

    Slick skin with rough little bumps
    A neck long and slender
    Muscles strong and defined
    To his power, we'd surrender.

    Lower than the seaweed tops
    Below murky waters sight
    Rumors have it's where he lives
    It's pitch black as night.

    Turning on the lights we have
    To cast a dimming glow
    Fearing each look we give
    To see if he will show.

    Sure, "pictures" have been taken
    And theories, given to the sky
    But no evidence that's stable
    For all we know, he can fly.

    What was that? The bump,
    I felt it. Didn't you too?
    A person can go crazy here
    With nothing else to do.

    No! There it is again.
    I pick myself off the floor.
    Higher beams are flashed
    Through our window door.

    He does exist! He's there.
    Staring at us through glass.
    Yellow eye fixed upon
    Intruders that dared pass.

    He's thrashing us about.
    Back and forth the ship goes.
    Will we make it alive?
    Nobody really knows.

    Engines burning all they have.
    Pulling us to ground's shore.
    Opening up the hatchway
    Jumping down to lands floor.

    I turn around in the nick of time
    To watch our proof drown in the sea.
    Lochness monster oh so real,
    He's just back to fantasy.

    Mustn't Caress My Sweet Love

    This is mine,
    My treasure,
    Your loss.

    You let her slip,
    Through you fingertips,
    Proving unworthy,
    Of standing strong.

    Her beauty is mine,
    To seduce and fascinate,
    In the towers,
    Of her safeguard.

    Caress and stroke,
    Upon sweet misery;
    Come close,
    And suffocate senselessly.

    Feel the wrath,
    Through the blaze,
    Shot from my mouth,
    To your soul.

    Sense the pain,
    From my power,
    Of the swish,
    My tail strikes.

    Miss with the treasure,
    And deal with me;
    The living hot-headed,
    Dragon from Hell.

    ___________
    Phoenix
    by ∫Bëløveđ∫
    ___________
    Phoenix

    Glittering sunbeams in the blood-red sky
    Milky waters crashing wave on wave
    Freezing heights of terraces
    Mountains gleaming to their prey

    Rustling leaves filling the night sky
    Like a flower, a budding flower
    Clouds of thunder fill the sky

    Golden sands grace the evening
    As shadows run straight into the night
    Hear the haunting melody
    See a story's plight

    Cascading from the luster pearls
    Of the deafening air
    Crack, roars the thunder
    Crash, goes the water's waves

    No one would dare venture here
    Not even the most brave

    The clouds open
    To reveal a blinding light
    Many have seen it
    But not a soul sleeps in the same night

    The soothing clouds of heaven
    The smoldering fires of hell
    Engulf a flaming circle
    Where one mysterious creature does dwell

    Splitting the the sky
    One side gold, the other silver
    A sovereign among saviours
    Their voice coos and shivers

    A giant echo that rips the clouds
    Apart from heaven's gates
    For centuries
    People did wait

    Blazing from the sky
    Drops this amazing being
    Red and orange, yellow, black
    Falls this bird and its breeding

    The roars, the cracks, the splitting of thunder
    All goes silent at this beautiful descent

    Its wings spread out as does the entire earth
    Its travel signaled as cathedral bells
    Glowing eyes of ember
    Born of heaven and hell

    The legend of myth
    Descends from the sky
    Bringing straight behind
    A mellow lullaby

    I'm a straggler.. And I randomly wrote this today. I hope it counts. =s If not, I understand.
    ````````````````````````
    Fire of Phoenix
    Wings made of fire spread largely to answer gods in the sky,
    Graceful answers shriek amongst forgotten places that defy,
    A beauty so still - in years to come arises a new sun,
    Admitting everything but defeat, by this light all will be done.
    Admiration made a body of red, silk, silver, and gold,
    Dazzling all with its incompetence of white and the bold,
    Flying high in much answer to the melting sun's desire,
    This Phoenix will live, dashing and calm, yet burning of fire.
    Shrieking with a golden beak with much to say, yet not allowed,
    Falling to the ground, with gracious deceit, all animals bowed,
    To this animal of much power, of golden light and flame,
    These angels of fire rule the Earth, yet their beauty can't be tamed.
