The Dark World Contest #1

  • The Queen of Spades
    17 years ago

    Personally, I think truly excellent dark poems are difficult to come by. As a pretty morbid and a dark person they are my favorite kind. I am holding this contest and anything regarding deep sadness/darkness/death/depression/horror is welcome in this category.

    Rules:
    1) One poem per person
    2) The poem must be an original piece
    3) Poems must be in January 30th
    4) Poem has to be at least 15 lines but no more than 45
    5) The theme MUST be relevant to the dark requirements.

    So nothing happy people haha! Rhyming is also not necessary.

    I'll have the results in on January 31st!

    The prizes will be:
    1st place: "Bleeding Crimson Rain" by Midnight Sun

    2nd place: "Cannabalism {Double Hava Rima}" by xTheEcstasyofSuicidex

    3rd place : "Underneath the Mortal Ground" by My Decadent

    4th place: "Like Unto a Leopard" by Holy Hellcat

    5th place: "Broken Doll" by Grotesque Angel

    And actually, all have the possibility of being added to my favorites. I'm really excited for this contest and cannot wait to read your work!

    Are we allowed to enter old poems? Or do they have to be new?

    Either is fine!

    Another question....can it be on abuse? Not sure if mine will or not but I'm kinda leaning that way. Take your time in letting me know. Thanks! :)

    When people say 'horror' I immediately think of one poem I've written. Although I have many dark and sad poems, I always think of one. So, I hope you enjoy.
    `````````````````````````````````````````
    Cannabalism {Double Ottava Rima}
    Swimming around, everywhere, blood sets, displaced,
    ((Chunks)), indescribable matter on the ground,
    With a difficult decision you are faced.
    Push harder, deeper, more, let your heart resound.
    Decide your fate quickly, enjoy the taste.
    Listen gently to your screams fall to the ground.
    Piece by piece, taste by taste, you'll eat your flesh,
    Falling deep within a sleep; your final rest.
    Feast upon flesh, so delicate and great,
    Breaking skin by teeth - smell the smell so strong,
    Cannibalism is your scrumptious fate.
    Blood dripping down your face; this can't be wrong,
    Looking up at victims with utter hate
    For their flesh in your mouth is where it belongs.
    Lying around you are skin and broken bones,
    Laugh as you break the flesh; hear their final moan.
    Title: Another day in Hell
    By: Mark
    Genre: Dark/Depression
    My world consists of lies
    friends self centered and egoistic
    life has turned upside down
    I am only being realistic
    the time passes like seconds
    no time to bloom
    living in another's footsteps
    Another day of eternal Doom
    crying out loud won't ever help
    people just passing by
    my tears dried out
    looking forward to the day I will die
    I am too scared
    with the gun in my hands
    shaking outrageous
    on the floor it lands
    no way out of this hell hole
    places the gun on my shelf
    I am trapped in a body
    inside it I am only a shadow of myself
    Regarding abuse, I would consider anything on abuse either dark or sad so that would be fine. As long as its not happy, comical, about nature, lovey dovey or pondering the ways of life it should be fine!
    I'm not that great on dark poems, i may replace this yet if thats ok?
    Xx Kiss me on my forehead xX
    Kiss me on my forehead
    And lay me down to sleep
    Kiss away my tears
    And pray my soul to keep
    Hold me in the darkness
    Chase away nightmares
    Hold me tightly to you
    Far from accusing stares
    Whisper softly to me
    Quietly through the night
    Whisper words of love
    And cuddle me so tight
    Hold my hand in yours
    Lay so close together
    Hold onto this feeling
    We'll make it last forever
    Kiss me on my forehead
    As I slowly close my eyes
    Kiss me on my lips
    As we say our last goodbyes ©
    I hope you like it...I think it's my darkest.
    "Bleeding Crimson Rain"
    The moon herself screams in agony
    The stars cry for my pain
    Mother earth holds me close
    As the sky bleeds a crimson rain
    My tears shatter on the ground
    And the icy liquid freezes over
    My own spirit leaves my soul
    So I hide under this devilish cover
    Darkness envelops my heart
    Like a vine grasping a tree
    Its burning fingers with such a hold
    Pull me under the surface of the sea
    The moon herself screams in agony
    The stars cry for my pain
    Mother earth holds me close
    As the sky bleeds a crimson rain
    I can't pull myself back up
    I've been down much too long
    I can't fight alone anymore
    Its grip is much too strong
    But I've lived in solitude all my life
    I've been long forgotten
    Now the only one to witness my death
    Is this sphere so long ago begotten
    The moon herself screams in agony
    The stars cry for my pain
    Mother earth holds me close
    As the sky bleeds a crimson rain
    These Porcelain Tears
    by Bryan
    The sun sets on her Porcelain Face,
    tears roll down her cheeks in such disgrace.
    For a love that was forgotten, no one really cares,
    the pain she shows is too much for her to bare.
    Writing her final note, no one around to see,
    what she's been through, how hard life can be.
    So she sits on her bed, with a pen and some paper,
    waiting on her Prince Charming to come and save her.
    She writes down her feelings, each and every day,
    hoping her true love will come and take her pain away.
    Wait as she might, her Prince Charming never shows,
    writing down her feelings, but the torture never goes.
    So she swallows the pills, lays the bottle by the bed,
    and finishes writing her note, this is what it said,
    "If my Prince Charming finds this, don't have any fear,
    I will die here now with these Porcelain Tears."
    Broken Doll
    I see your pretty face,
    One I wish to disgrace,
    Follow you to your home,
    Soon to be your eyes were sewn
    You will scream for my mercy,
    This will scar you will see,
    Mercy HA! I give none,
    Never will you touch the sun
    Your body is ripped and torn,
    Your mind is now filled with scorn,
    Raping you for my own joy,
    Broke your face like its a toy
    Spitting on your undug grave,
    A path to hell I will now pave,
    Rape you mind you wont forget,
    Now that your future is unset
    For you nothing will I ever care,
    All you can do is stare,
    Your eyes forever now are glass,
    No one helps as they walk past
    Fucked and beaten like a doll,
    Now that I have stole your soul,
    And your face I shall smother,
    Now I'm off to kill another
    PS: Hope you find it morbid enough. (BTW, its not about me raping someone)
    Valentine's Day
    by Silhouette, of something unimaginable
    They sit together
    on the lover's holiday
    cuddling, and smiling
    acting lovey dovey
    he knows she wants to die sometimes
    she thinks there might be someone else
    they part in their ways
    he goes to the one he loves
    she to the one that loves her
    she holds the cold metal, his photo
    crying why couldn't you love me
    like the way you love her
    she holds the blade closer
    thinking "walk the sidewalk"
    she gets closer to her want
    he now feels her pain
    leaving his lover
    he runs down the road
    now she is thinking "no turning back"
    the blade "walks the sidewalk"
    now turning, it "crosses the street"
    he reaches her house
    tears running down their eyes
    she clutches the note
    he clutches the nob
    just a second too late
    she lays there motionless
    kneeling beside her
    he reads the note
    "we both can't get what we want"
    he knows, though no one else does.
    he now belongs to her
    she got her wish
    but he shall not
    that was her happy ending
    but his sorrowful beginning
    WHERE DID YOU GO SIS?
    Where did you go today sis?
    You never said goodbye,
    You never had much time for me,
    Now up high you fly,
    You had no faith in god above,
    I wonder if you’re right,
    If you’ve gone to hell or not,
    Or if you’re in the light.
    How do I know where you’ve gone?
    What do I believe?
    All I do is lie at home,
    Lie alone and grieve.
    If my tears could bring you back,
    You would be back home,
    A thousand different ones of you,
    But really I’m alone.
    All alone in an empty house,
    Full of all your dreams,
    Full of all your memories and,
    It makes me want to scream.
    Cheers
    Fatal Memories
    by BriBri .x. ♥
    Blurry abstract visions clouding mind
    A tragic story when combined
    Innocence, youth, childhood all lost
    At such a young age, she didn't know the cost
    Bringing up events from long ago
    So the truth, she can finally know
    Remembering times she screamed for help
    Him taking her, making her yelp
    Finding out why her life's been a mess
    One way or another, she'll make him confess
    Everyone will soon know the truth
    Of a little girl, who lost her youth
    Never Give Up
    by ~BRiDDY~
    An ocean of heat blasts over her,
    and lingers on her for too long.
    She falls to the ground in surprise and shock,
    and immediately feels something is wrong.
    Breaking out in a sweat,
    she tries to fight this body of heat.
    But she can only struggle as she gets slowly weaker,
    and face this powerful defeat.
    Her body goes limp with exhaustion,
    and her head lolls about on her neck.
    She's drowning in a pool of her own sweat,
    but her closing eyes it won't affect.
    Her lids are slowly shutting,
    her dark lashes and brow soaking wet.
    The last thing she sees is a blurry mess,
    then she is gripped by a feeling she won't forget.
    Eventually she wakes up, in a wave of confusion,
    and she doesn't know where she is.
    Her body is sore, and her clothes stuck to her skin,
    and her damp hair is in a frizz.
    She manages to stand, with a bit of swaying,
    and she realizes her enemy's no longer there.
    The sweltering heat has gone and left her to be,
    but has left her alone in fear.
    Looking around, she only sees paths,
    there's hundreds of them all around.
    But which one should she take, where do they lead to?
    Should she wait till the right one is found?
    She chooses one at random,
    and walks up to the start.
    But something monstrously scary appears,
    and tries to stab her in the heart.
    She stops abruptly and runs back,
    her heart thumping out of her chest.
    She turns and tries another path,
    but these things won't give her a rest.
    She doesn't lose hope and keeps trying,
    how is she managing to cope?
    Finally there is only one path left,
    this path is her only hope.
    She closes her eyes and walks towards it,
    saying a silent prayer in her head.
    She keeps walking, finally opening her eyes,
    to see safety lying ahead.
    Never give up hope, even in the worst of times,
    and always keep trying your hardest.
    Because giving up on these things -
    is like giving up on yourself.
    So I think it is a beautiful poem, its not exactly what I was thinking of but if this had been for inspirational poems, it would have been right on the mark. Although i love the beginning...so it does have what I'm looking for, but its a little different. Of course, poetry is not black and white so you can either keep it or not, I mean if its not a black poem as night its not like I won't consider it. So I would love it you could keep it, but if you want to enter something else thats fine, just make sure to tell me which one you'd prefer for me to judge.
  • Bridget
    17 years ago
    ohk kool.. um i dunno cos i don't really have any other dark poems.. but would this poem even have a chance when you come to judge it do you think?
    NIGHT
    Darkness.
    Sinking around my skull, and slowly
    submerging me in its velvetiness.
    Penetrating and permeating.
    It enters like cold molten lead
    and drowns me in its heaviness.
    It numbs me, or maybe hones too much-
    I do not know.
    I can’t breathe.
    The night wind howls, but I think it feels
    like music to me; until it dies down.
    Stillness welcomes the pain that hides;
    but it seems to savor the veil it wears.
    Or could it be that it cannot expose
    a face it hasn’t seen?
    I do not know.
    I can’t breathe.
    The raw, stark sky screams
    of needed frankness;
    and I start to yearn for clouds
    just because the truth lacerates.
    When I cannot feel love,
    the moon glares down and taunts
    rosy thoughts; but I’m not irked-
    you can’t jeer at corpses.
    I still can’t breathe.
    (maybe I don’t want to)
    Darkness ravishes it's thirst upon
    my Satan borne heart
    Knowing eagerly that temptation
    was too sweet on my part
    This portrait I paint of sheer innocence
    Is but a mess of paint
    See where the softest touch revolt
    A fading last restraint
    Belong is a word deserving death too soon
    A conspiracy for too long
    Tempting temptresses with a wish like mine
    When only murder came along
    More and more than came less and less
    Tainted footprints on the ground
    Drinking and laughing till my soul was no more
    And utter helplessness was found
    Underneath The Mortal Ground
    by My Decadent
    Roses with their poisioned thorns
    Hanged by the satyr's horns
    Bleed their nectar down on your skin
    And breed their venom with your sin.
    Demons with inverted wings fall
    Crushing spiders in their crawl
    Rusted chains rammed into your face
    Maggots on your body - such a disgrace.
    Burning flames of Leviathan's son,
    Cries of despair of the Fallen One,
    Tears that stain these gates of Hell
    Where Hades and Thanatos used to dwell.
    Mutilated silence echoes in the night
    As Acheron overwhelms you with his might
    And withering souls dance in the dark
    While his curse of doom rips at your heart.
    *More Than Usual*
    Just the sight of it
    Starting at her wrists
    All the way up her arm,
    Down to her fingertips
    Just the sight of it
    Calms her down slowly
    It's the kind of high
    Only to come from a blade
    Just the sight of it
    Makes her forget everything
    She can't remember why this time,
    Or even where she is
    Just the sight of it
    Dripping onto the floor
    It's already stained,
    From every time before
    Just the sight of it
    And she begins to realize
    It's more than usual,
    Now a pool of blood beneath her
    Just the sight of it
    Makes her faint
    Yet she feels nothing
    As her lifeless body hits the floor
    Just the sight of it
    The blood-stained note
    And they all realize
    "It's all his fault."
    Like Unto A Leopard (Villanelle)
    by Holy Hellcat
    Like Unto A Leopard*
    Upon a throne of blood, my guardian resides
    In desperate isolation, he tailors my disguise
    I think I'm being bred to be the anti-christ
    Like unto a leopard, the prophecy indites
    The second coming usurps after the first has died
    Upon a throne of blood, my guardian resides
    With all outward appearances as of one beatified
    Timid and helpless, and passionately untried
    I think I'm being bred to be the anti-christ
    Everybody wants to be different, to walk the thin lines
    Between changing the world, and rearranging your mind
    Upon a throne of blood, my guardian resides
    Escape into the world, I am shaken by a heist
    Of my ideals, and stolen from my kind
    Upon a throne of blood, my guardian resides
    I think I'm being bred to be the anti-christ
    *from St. John's Revelation Ch. 13 when he's describing the second beast that rises from the sea, he begins with the lines, "And the beast I saw was like unto a leopard; with the feet of a bear and the mouth of a lion, and spake as a dragon..." Only mention it because it's my favorite bibiblical story and you should go read it, now, if you haven't already.
    h/o.. brb
    One of my oldy's.. not really 'horror' but its either this.. or a suicide note type one., ahah. well anyways..
    Hope you like it. ...
    Broken Home
    Upstairs in my room
    I'm silently sitting on the bed
    parents down stairs fighting
    their voices ringing in my head
    Swear words blaring loudly
    as my father and mother yell
    'F**king C*nt, Die b!*ch.'
    'A**hole, go to f**king hell'
    this is what my life's like
    from upstairs in my room.
    this pain is morphing my mind to
    thoughts of impending doom
    I lie about my f**cked up family
    to almost every one of my friends
    cause I know all but a few
    will be there for me til the end
    downstairs the fists are pounding
    and chairs are getting thrown.
    in my room I'm thinking
    about how I'm so alone..
    my father threatens to leave
    man, how I wish he would
    my sisters bawling, choking
    I wish you all understood
    this is what I go through
    and why I'm so terribly alone
    so now you know the reason
    why i'm simply skin and bone..
    Nightmares!
    She's awake, lost in a massive room,
    with to heartless guys,& a bed, where she lays , tied at the arms and feet .
    They torture her in many different ways.
    She pleads with them to let her go, but they don't listen.
    They take turns to touch her, but to her everything is just a blurr.
    She's confused and doesn't know what's happening.
    They circle her giggling and laughing,
    as they take turns to play their sick twisted games.
    She's scared out of her mind and can't stop crying!
    But in an instant second,everything starts to disappear.
    The gutless men, the horrible room. But what still remains is her pain and fear.
    She wakes up for real now & drys her eyes. Even though it was just a nightmare, it still all feels so real as she remembers exactly what happened.
    She's scared, so she hides under her bed where she feels the safest!!
