It is degrading that parents don't educate their kids? I think you need to look up the definition of degrading.

However--I do agree with you for the most part.

  • Fluffy

what is degrading is the fact that parents no longer seem to educate their children enough about the birds and the bees to the point that they have to come on a poetry site to seek information about what to do if they might be pregnant....

^Very true, and it's sad to have to be in that kind of situation in the first place.

My advice, like any other patient person is: Keep your pants on until you're ready, committed and finished your studies!

Hah, I know many of you will disagree, but OH well. ;)

i dont think it is so much parents not teaching the teens because they are told so many times not to do things and explianed to why....it's more that teens think they know it all and think they can handle it......it mostly just based what teens think and know and how they see themselves on maturity level....

  • Sherry Lynn

Just to point out that the boys are just as much at fault as the girls. When are we as a society going to stop putting all the blame on the girls and hold the males accountable for their actions as well?

    --Sher

PS BOYS if you do not want to be a young parent then wrap it, or better yet, keep it put away!

  • silvershoes

That's a terribly stupid thing to say. It is men and women's responsibility to use protection against untimely birth (and/or diseases). How ignorant could you possibly be to assume since women are the carriers, that we are fully responsible? Do you assume that women are the simple cause of our species? Ridiculous...

  • silvershoes

Yes. How can you tell me I'm not allowed to debate in a thread clearly disputable? Abuse of power!

    Give me a real response/reason, don't be a jerk...and don't be nice just because we're myspace buddies!

"Actually it's not the boys fault except in cases of rape, closed legs don't provide an invitation.....

chauvinistic yes, but only to a feminist and besides this thread wasn't created to find fault other than in posting issues"

Excuse me? Bob, I agree with you virtually the time but this is one of the most misogynistic things I have read on the forum. I don't think it is fair to say that boys have no blame except in cases of rape. Sex is MUTUAL and if a little boy is going to be whipping out something he doesn't even know now to use, if he doesn't use a condom that is MESSED up. I don't care who you are in this day and age, "wrap it up or better yet keep it away" (i like that sheri) because if you don't you risk pregnancy or worse. I can't believe you think its acceptable to say that females are solely to blame for the burdens placed on them by mother nature. I hope to god thats not what you meant to say, because I can't believe someone would say that boys are devoid of responsibility when it comes to a girl being pregnant. And lets keep in mind that when it comes to STDs, females are the susceptible to much more diseases then males. GRRR.

  • The Queen of Spades

If you're trying to insinuate that I'm bitter because I've been in that position, you are sorely mistaken. Been tested every 6 months for the last two years, I am STD free, and pregnancy is not my thing. I'm responsible, use protection, screw safely, and save myself for the people who deserve me. Also, I have a girlfriend right now :D so don't go making any assumptions

  • silvershoes

Why should she trust you? That would be stupid. No offense intended...anyway, Bob, can you embellish on the reasons why girls are responsible for all sexual mistakes except for in the case of rape? Please, I think many of us would care to hear your perspective on this.

Unless you ram through that garage, which in this case would be garage rape. I hope that the garage doesn't have a baby car after all of this raming.

I agree with bob. boys and girls should keep their legs closed, if they aren't going to use a condom.

it's common sense for christ sakes.

boy + girl - condom = STDs or babies.

"you still haven't answered the statement that it is the female who must consent before anything can even happen"
^I'm not living in a sexist world. Sex should be consensual for both parties. Mutual! So yes, females should consent, as should males. Statement answered.

I looked up the definition of girl.

Girl- A person's daughter, especially a young one
^^^ So people consider 30's to still be young... not old anyway....so that doesn't mean anything degrading really... half of us on here then are considered to be'young'

I think what bob is 'trying' to say is that if we as 'women' hold out against the raging uncontrolled hormones of men.... Than much of teen pregnancy would come to a halt. I don't think he was questioning the fact the it's equal parties that consent (excluding rape) to sexual things. Or perhaps he's just trying to say that women can control their hormones better than men.... Although teen pregnancy would cut down a lot more... IF BOTH parties kept their guchies on. But I think he's really talking about the women that run the goody cart day and night.

"And why do you have a girlfriend, I'm just curious, since you've never been in that situation, so you say.......I mean there are mitigating circumstances as to why most and remember I said most girls would choose to be with another girl...

and trust me, I won't be offended if you tell me it's none of my damn business...Peace"

Well I'm not a man-hater if that's what you're thinking, I prefer both sexes, although its mainly attraction towards females and desire for a relationship with males. And I've forgotten what situation you're referring to...lol

  • silvershoes

"Or perhaps he's just trying to say that women can control their hormones better than men...."

What proof do you have? I can prove your theory wrong. Women and men are now equal with sexual desire, women may have possibly always been just as eager to pursue sexual relations, but it was forbidden culturally. That culture is fading and women are gradually becoming as "desirous" as men. I don't think male hormones should be an excuse. We may be animals, but we can do something most animals can't...MASTURBATE.

  • Brigitte

Although it is true that sexual behavior is increasing in women, scientific facts stay the same. Men have as much as twenty times more testosterone in their systems than women do. This makes men typically more aggressive, dominant and more narrowly focused on the physical aspects of sex. It is also a well-known fact that men focus more on sight, while women revolve around other senses. There is also the fact that men think about sex WAY more than women (even if the thoughts are increasing due to the sexual ideas presented to women through the media)....What does masturbation have to do with anything?

  • silvershoes

It has to do with a lot. Of course men have more testosterone, just like we have more estrogen. Woop! But, men can release their sexual energy through masturbation (as well as women), therefore, there is no excuse why men are not at fault for sexual 'mistakes.' Comprendes? Don't excuse men, both genders are at equal fault. According to your information claiming men are more physical--agressive, dominant--men would be at greater fault. Be happy, I won't misinterpret your ideas. My point is...men and women are at equal fault, and there are other forms of release to prevent untimely births, STDs, etc...protection, or simply abstinence (excluding masturbation).

One more thing. We are intelligent animals, are we controlled by our evolutionary, primitive instincts, or does reason control us? Estrogen, testosterone...what does it matter? We have brains that enable us to think.

Practice self control. Leash your desires. Consider temptation.

    Peace out!

  • Brigitte

I assure you I wasn't excusing men. Yes I suppose masturbation would cut down on the desires... but think how many men who are sexually minded masturbate and are still not fulfilled? Heck if that was true (which it is to some extent) than men would never need women. That would cut out ALL out of wed lock pregnancy..... no more problem right??? Wrong!!! Even with how much man masturbate we still have the standing problem. What I'm trying to say is that if we as women don't give into the passionate lies that male players tell us, and we hold out, than teen pregnancy would drop in numbers by a lot! I'm not talking about those couples who are in love and make the decision to have sex together, but the girls who give into ANY man's desires.... The same girls that are on here complaining about some one night stand they had, and how they're now possibly pregnant and so on and so on.

  • silvershoes

Yes, but men need to learn to deny insecure girls seeking attention. They are just as responsible. I agree with you, women/girls need to say NO if they aren't ready. Men need to use their brains and think if THEY are ready to impregnate a girl.

"If girls keep their legs closed and don't go for the "oh, everybody's doing it, or if you loved me you would" plea, the we wouldn't even be having this discussion now would we" -bob
^^ ( a bit up there, but it caught my eye)

what about the guys who pressure the girls into it? girls arent the only ones who say that, andi would expect that being a guy you would know that.
as someone said up there, it takes two to make a baby - ultimately, two people making a decision (or not), two to tango. save a few cases (i.e. rape), there has to be a mutual agreement
