Yes, indeed. Nuevo, it's good to see you have yet to lose your sense of humor, but I'm sure master is saddened :)

'sexual gratification gained through causing pain or degradation to others.'

^^ Can you prove that you are not sadistic, Nuevo? I wouldn't doubt for a second that you DO recieve this form of sexual gratification through our debating.

Saddened...hmm...more like disappointed if you are to believe what Darwin said as to his personal interpretation of 'sad'. But thats old news is it not. Does the apprentice fear disappointment from the master?

Lol. You might want to try learning to read before you look up ad hominem in the dictionary. Cheers!

(I don't expect you to understand that, so, psst, you spelt 'Nuovo' wrong).

(Reconsidering, and judging from your initial effort, your brain probably didn't register that my name is actually spelt in its correct entirety to the left of your screen =)

    Keep it up!

    Oh, I noticed..believe me, Nuevo.

I was altering your name in a form of degradation ;)

Use that wee brain of yours to unravel my sense of humor. You can do it!

  • NuovoVesuvio

    HAHAHA

    NUEVO

    HAHAHA

    HOW DEGRADING AND HUMOROUS.
If that's your sense of humour, I wonder what your sense of seriousness is.

    Keep it up!

Here's a simple question. Do you intend to only work off what we give you in your attempt to make yourself feel better than us, or do you intend to you that hidden intellect you seem to imply you have and take us on as Darwin did?

  • silvershoes

I was beginning to wonder the same of you, but SERIOUSLY, I don't care. I find your inability to comprehend quite amusing.

    Keep it up!

  • NuovoVesuvio

    HAHAHA.

    1. If you don't care, you wouldn't have typed. Lol.
    2. 'Do you intend to only work off what we give you'
'you (use) that hidden intellect you seem to imply you have and take us on '

HAHA. First you infer me not to 'take you on', then you tell me to 'take you on'! LMAO.

    You guys are hilarious.

Well, time to take a shower and quench the day's end. Leave lots of hilarious messages for me to laugh at when I come back from a hard day tomorrow, won't you?

    Cheers and keep it up!

Take care Nuevo. Correction: I do care about this thread. I care enough to post. I care not as to what you say. I comprehend what you say, then respond. There is no emotion involved.

    May your water run cold.

  • Rahl The Layman Lord

You confuse me. Yes i infer that you are unwilling to take us on, thus why I implied that you should take us on...much more fun that way. As it is, we are talking and you are making the back seat observer comments. Purpose...give us something reasonable, applicable, and original....your own work.

You know, while Darwin was well-spoken and well thought out for the most part...at least Nuevo had a sense of humor. I like him as well.

You are not joyous of your victory in the philosophical thread, Italian Stallion. You just might have pride and common sense.

Darwin, I could careless, Victory is not the ones that win, it is the one's that have the most heart and believe in victory more than others just striving for victory. Jane and Jason were striving for victory, you on the other hand, didn't care, you believed in your answers and followed through, and to tell you the truth, Victory truly belongs to you, for you have a great heart in what you talk about.

  • silvershoes

    Oh really now?

In that case, congratulations on your victory Darwin!

Joe, thank you for making my day. I haven't laughed so hard in a week!

Simple question: Does Darwin's compliment involve Joe's rank as a moderator?

  • Rahl The Layman Lord

Victory is different, but victory of heart is not what we were striving for joe, we were going for victory of content, victory of resolve, and victory of controlled composure.

No need to elaborate to me Jason, I don't have enough time to debate, I am heading out to my 6pm class, won't be back till 9.

  • Rahl The Layman Lord

We will miss you joe...and no, there was no need to elaborate, however, I felt for your own personal benefit it would help if you were aware of just what was going on.

Jason, I most likely will be gone tonight. I DO have a life outside of the internet, unlike some people I know ;)

Keep the troops in line for me, will you?

I would like to encourage other members to participate on this thread. Our immature jokes about dominating Darwin, are just that: jokes. Originally, we had a very interesting debate going, but Darwin started to take things personally, lashing out, and thus, speaking for myself, I fought back..but on terms I believe were fair. Darwin, as he specifically admitted, finds fun to be primitive, and avoids happiness at all costs. In shock, I speak for myself alone, I tried to draw answers as to why he would choose to live such a life of complete seriousness. He refused to answer, aside from patronizing comments, and a close-minded perspective as to Jason and my inquiries. Thus, the debate became essentially pointless.

My point being, please don't be intimidated to post on this thread. Personally, I love philisophical debates and making new acquaintances. If my opinions ever contrast your own, do not be offended. In fact, you can always try to change my mind. I am an optimistic person.

Hope to hear from someone soon :)

I will second what was said. Jane and I have a keen, if unique, interest in philosophical debates. As stated, we will not and do not always agree with one another. Regardless, it is still intellectually stimulating, and as for myself...a great time. We would love to hear your own opinions, however do please try to make this opinions at least partially plausible with some backing. The joking and such is only our way of lightening things up and as Jane said...we do it because we are who we are.

Is IQ testing an affective way to measure an idividuals (g) general intelligence factor?

g is usually split into two different categories in which intelligence is measured.

    1) gF which stands for fluid intelligence
    2) gC which stands for crystallized intelligence.

If you don't think that IQ testing is an affective way to measure one's intelligence, what do you think of Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences?

  • Rahl The Layman Lord

Hey joe, in your categorizing of intelligence are you you indicating:

    1) gF, solid knowledge, what I call book smarts, such as remembering capitols of every state in the world.
    2) gC, abstraction, the ability to consider abstract principles and thought, ie. theory of knowledge(the actual theory, not contents)

And on to your question, we are who we are, IQ testing is irrelevant to me considering that the only intelligence I consider worth considering is my own, of which i can measure my own ability and don't need someone, or something, else to tell me.

  • Italian Stallion

  • Italian Stallion

Ok, so what do you think of Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences?

Do you know what the Theory is or do you need me to explain?

  • Rahl The Layman Lord

Nope, don't know off the top of my head, explain but keep it short and to the point, Im working on things as we speek.

  • Rahl The Layman Lord

Be back a bit latter joe, have to go do somethings.

  • Italian Stallion

The Theory of multiple intelligences is a psychological and educational theory. In which it suggests that an array of diverse kinds of intelligence exist in individuals. Gardner suggested that human beings manifest varying levels of different intelligences, and thus each individual has a unique cognitive profile.

  • Rahl The Layman Lord

Joe, that takes stating the obvious to an extreme. True perhaps, but what a waste of time...all you find out in the end is that, once again, every man is different.

  • silvershoes

IQ testing is as accurate a test of one's intelligence as any other. I've had my IQ tested multiple times, each higher than the last (apparently I'm a high genius), but each time I was tested, I was unaware I had moderate/serious ADD. According to three psychologists, I'm also severely depressed. With these drawbacks, my IQ test, I believe, is lower than it would be otherwise. I suppose it's all irrelevant anyhow, as Jason said, I am the only true judge of my intelligence. I have little curiousity as to the measurement in scientific terms, or the measurement of other's IQs.

Now, onto this other theory of which you speak. I'm going to have to agree with Jason, once again...how incredibly obvious. What is the point of having something so obvious and naturally understood, grouped into a theory? A theory that cannot be disproved.

Is the light at the end of the tunnel really just the headlight of an oncoming train? If so, then perhaps we should re-think the oftenly heard advice to go into the light when we have our out-of-body experiences when we are clinically dead.

    What do you think?
